Located in the Surutapalli village on the Tirupati (Balaji) route, the temple is 60 kilometres away from Chennai. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Pallikondeswarar temple is the only temple where Shiva’s head is placed on Parvati’s lap. If you happen to visit this temple during Maha Shivratri and Sani Pardosham, witness a grand affair as well as a huge number of devotees crowding at the temple. Make sure you reach the temple in the early hours to visit the shrine and be part of the elaborate ceremonies that takes place during that time.
