Ashtalakshmi Temple in Chennai
Ashtalakshmi Temple Overview
Close to the shores of Bay of Bengal, Ashtalakshmi temple is the only temple in the east coast of Tamil Nadu that is dedicated to the Goddess of wealth and Goddess of the eightfold achievements - Mahalakshmi. It boasts of a graceful shrine of Mahalakshmi in her eight forms on two tiers (a reason why it has been named as the Ashtalakshmi temple).
Apart from this, there is an idol of Lord Mahavishnu here. The temple has three floors and on each floor, Lord Vishnu is portrayed in standing, sitting and reclining postures. It is believed that since Goddess Laksmiās birthplace is the sea, the location of the temple is quite appropriate and auspicious.
You can offer clothes for the Lord inside the temple and distribute nivedhanas to devotees.
