Canberra is a year-round destination with the spring time being the best time to visit. Here’s a monthly break up of Canberra’s climatic conditions so you can plan when to go:

September to November: The best time to explore the attractions of Canberra are the months of spring season (September to November). The weather is very pleasant at this time of the year. The mornings and the nights are cool while it is pleasantly sunny during the day time. Adding to the alluring beauty is the blossoming of the flowers during this season. The colourful Floriade Festival is also held during spring time.

December to February: These are the summer months in Canberra. Though the weather is dry and the temperatures are high, this time is ideal if you wish to indulge in adventurous water sports and outdoor activities. A number of fun activities await you at Lake Burley Griffin during the summers.

March to May: If you plan your visit to Canberra during March, be prepared to be mesmerised by the joyous Canberra Day celebrations all over the city. Offering a pleasant weather, the autumn months are also very beautiful and the many parks and gardens in the city are sure to fascinate you. The lush green trees and plants begin to take on golden and crimson shades and offer great photo opportunities.

June to August: A walk by the lake or a BBQ picnic by the bonfire – many diverse experiences await you in the winters. However, this is probably not the best time to travel to Canberra as it gets really cold sometimes and staying indoors is usually preferred.
