The St. Michael and St.Gudula Cathedral is a Roman Catholic Church and is named after the patron saint of Brussels. This massive Gothic style cathedral is the national church of Belgium and all royal weddings and funerals take place here. The cathedral dates back to the 11th century and was completed by the Duke of Brabant. In the 13th century the building was renovated and constructed in a Gothic style.

The most spectacular feature of this cathedral is the stained glass windows which have been designed by various artists, including 16th century artists Bernard van Orley. The painting depicting The Last Judgment is illuminated from within every evening and is absolutely breathtaking.
