Located in the north-east direction of the Mahabodhi Temple, it was at this place where Buddha spent his second week of meditation. During these seven days, Buddha looked at the Bodhi Tree continuously without even blinking his eyelid for a second. The place has thus been named Animesh Lochan which means open eyes highlighting the significance of this event in Buddha’s life. Another noteworthy attraction here is the Ratnachankrama which is the place between the Bodhi tree and Animesh Lochana Chaitya where he walked.
