Andaman’s sun-kissed beaches and azure waters welcome you to the land of unending beauty. Showered with heavenly landscapes, this enigmatic island has surprises tucked in every nook and corner.

Crystal clear waters, spellbinding natural vistas and a dash of history conspire to make the islands of Andaman a picture-perfect haven for travellers.

Turn your head anywhere, this tiny archipelago off the Indian coast will keep you in awe. Visit the Cellular Jail or Kala Pani, the biggest attraction in the small multicultural town of Port Blair. The darkness of the colonial past echoes in the claustrophobic prisons where notable Indian freedom fighters were once exiled.

Hike the twisting roads to Mount Harriet, once the summer resort of the British, to get a panoramic view of Port Blair and surrounding islands like Ross Island, Viper Island and Jolly Buoy Island. The interesting fact about the Andamans is that you don’t even have to travel far and wide to witness marvels of nature. Look outside your window to catch the sparkle of the lighthouses sprinkled on neighboring isles or spot the unique Emerald Nicobar Pigeon flying by gracefully.

Walking the white sands of Asia’s best beach – Radhanagar on Havelock Island is an experience in itself. The turquoise water is so clear that you can see the flora and fauna on the sea bed. For spectacular corals, wade in to the water and they’ll be right there. Underwater adventures at the Jolly Buoy and the Red Skin Islands are a must, even for the uninitiated. Snorkel or scuba dive into the mesmerizing unexplored world of colourful fish and intriguing coral reefs.

Due to incidents of exploitation in the past, visiting Jarawa tribal territory is now banned. For an insight in to their lives, visit the Anthropological Museum in Port Blair.

On the islands of Andaman, all you can hear for miles are bird songs and the rhythmic splash of ocean waves. Go ahead and catch up on life’s little pleasures in this wonderland of history, scenic beauty and adventure.
