Built in the year 1423 by Sultan Ahmed Shah, the famous Jama Masjid is located in the heart of the city of Ahmedabad. The mosque is built using yellow sandstone and is also where Sultan Ahmed Shah and the rest of his family are buried. Once you step inside the tomb, you will be mesmerised by the architectural beauty of the place.

The unusual architecture is a blend of Hindu, Jain and Islamic designs and styles. Supported by 260 pillars, the mosque features 15 domes. Though a huge part of the mosque was damaged in the earthquakes of 1819 and 1957, it still remains to be one of the biggest tourist attractions of Ahmedabad. Do not forget to carry your shopping bag when visiting the Jama Masjid as there are a lot of bazaars around the area.
