One of the largest temples in Gujarat dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan and spread across 23 acres of land, the majestic Akshardham Temple is built using 6000 tons of pink sandstone. The temple is an architectural marvel and a perfect blend of art, culture, education, devotion and exhibition. The Akshardham in Ahmedabad is a predecessor to the Akshardham at Delhi. There is an intricately carved structure of Lord Swaminarayan that stands amidst sprawling gardens.

The Akshardham Temple is surrounded by a garden named Sahajanand Van which houses rides, swings and games for kids, a lake, a waterfall and a herbal garden. In an effort to educate visitors, three exhibition halls are set up in the temple premises. You can also look forward to the Sat-Chit-Anand water show that portrays India’s inner light through the story of Nachiketa, a nine year old boy, who faces Yamraaj, the God of Death. During his confrontation, he receives the knowledge from Yamraaj that has made India, a land of enlightenment.
