Visited the Quiet by the river, last weekend. An island in the periyar tributary - Paniyeli. The initial entry to the resort was a little nerve racking as we had to go through a path in the jungle in a rickety bus. Reached the river and then realised that the rest of the journey was in a country boat. Reached the resort with some misgivings. But once we reached there, the entire scenario changed. We received a warm welcome by the staff and Mr. Rijo the manager. Was made to feel very much at home. The place is quiet and discreet and the perfect place to unwind. Just about 4 to 5 cottages and two or three rooms. The rooms are good sized and clean and have a wonderful view of the river.
The staff went all out to ensure that we had a good time. The view from the cottages of the stream flowing amongst the rocks soothes the mind. We were taken for walks along the river and for treks. All the time the staff ensured that there was no danger from the flowing river or no surprising eddying currents or whirlpools around.
The natural pool available in the midst of the rocks and their infinity pool also are good for all water lovers.
The place did not believe in buffet or serving food rehashed in different forms. Each meal was carefully planned with succulent dishes, if anything I would say they were bent on overfeeding us with tasty tempting meals.
Night time fishing was another novelty we saw there. We were taken in the country boat and the staff showed us how to catch some fresh prawns and fish. There was no use of nets or anything to spoil the ecological system. Just a couple of fishes caught using wooden prongs.
All in all, a perfect place to recharge your batteries.

Over the Christmas weekend, we decided to have a relaxed vacation with a school friend's family. This was also a reunion after twenty years. We loved the resort since its location is absolutely fabulous. The kids were excited to go through a jungle and then ride a boat to get to the island where the resort is. They have around five cottages only which is a great thing. Less people and good hospitality makes this an amazing place to unwind, connect with your loved ones amidst nature. The Periyar river flows gently. You can spend your time playing in water all day. You can see and hear it flow from your room too. The staff helped the kids do some fishing and also raft rides and a hike. The chef prepared delectable spread for each meal. Overall, the manager Rijo and staff were just wonderful. I recommend this resort if you are planning a Kerala holiday.
