Good hotel just about 500m away from the lake/mall road, all major tourist places like Cave garden and others near by. Nice & co-operative staff, Clean, good decorum, food quality good. The best thing is has a huge parking space and getting such facility near mall road is quite difficult. Bit old property, but good maintenance, so do not expect 5 start quality. But only a few Rooms are bit old fashion with old furniture, but bed and sheets and toilets are clean. It's your luck, what you are getting there if it's a peak season. On day-1, I got that room, but upon request on second day they moved me to better room despite of peak season. Thanks so such for taking care my request.

Good part - Car Parking, located near mall road, size of the double room
Bad part - Dirty bed sheets/cover, very old structure, foul smell, slow service, costly as per the rate they charge, the hotel staff did not know that we have paid the total amount through makemytrip and on being told the guy told am not updated with those details

I was little bit hesitated before booking this hotel, but I was wrong. I had a great and worthy experience while staying in this hotel. Fully satisfied with room allotted, Room was full furnished, equipped with all facilities and large enough. The location was quite good, a 10 mins walking distance to mall road. Hotel staff is also attentive for all kind of requests. Will do visit again. Highly suggested to stay here.

Do not ever book it on line. They will give you the worst rooms. Ridiculous staff and no body cares of anything. They even do not ask us before checkout phones will not work in night, localities will see you like hell and will hover around your room. Do not try this ever otherwise spoil your trip yourself .
I enjoyed the trip because the comfort and other facilities which was provided by the hotel staff was awesome and most important part of the trip is accommodation. Food was excellent which compelled me that I want to go to Nainital and definitely I want to go again.

Wow the location was fabulous! Overlooking mountain ranges on the right, deep valley in front, spend 3 days and 2 nights, we were about 25 persons, picked almost all cottages and large hall. We made ourselves homely, even the staff was cooperative. We had wonderful home cooked style food as they permitted to have final tadka by our experts [wife / bhabies] using our own ingredients carried during the trip. Cable car was also just 100 meter above us, morning tea at the location where finest moments spent, clouds below snow covered peaks, cool breeze was awesome, beyond words. Rooms are average, to enjoy weather and surroundings we slept on terrace. It's was another first hand experience, just amazing freshness.
Location was good but poor man....

I booked 2 rooms in Royal Hotel (Nainital) online for approx. Rs. 10,000 per day (for 2 rooms). I checked into the hotel last night and found the hotel to be below my expectations. Let me describe the good, bad and ugly about this hotel:
* Decent location, not very far from Nainital Lake
* Food is good
* Ample parking space
* No room service
* No intercom - You need to climb down a floor and walk 3 minutes to reach the reception even if you want to order a cup of tea
* No amenities like WiFi
* Lacks basic stuff like mosquito repellents, clean towels, soaps & shampoos in bathrooms etc.
* Food orders usually take about an hour to be fulfilled. Tried twice, once dinner and then breakfast. Disappointed both times.
* Rooms are extremely dirty. Furniture covered in dust; carpets are smelly and very dusty
* Rooms are so bad that even Government-run holiday homes feel better
* If you book online, the hotel receives your money in advance and then they give you a don't care attitude
All in all, this is a 'Don't visit ever again' type of place. Highly avoidable. Unless they reduce their room prices by 75%.
A classic hotel

I went to Nainita to attend a marriage and I stayed in Royal Hotel. It was a classic hotel near the main market. Rooms was large with wooden work. Small space for children sports. Very peaceful restaurant. Naini Devi temple and lake was near to the hotel. Bank ATM and confectionery shops were just outside the hotel. It was a great journey to me. Stay at Hotel Royal was memorable. I am very thankful to hotel royal staff. Thanks a lot.
