I have stayed here for couple of days in September during dussera vacation with my family. I booked for a weekday expecting lesser crowd. The resort has about 15 rooms out of which 5-6 were occupied during our stay. Room: I have booked a sea facing deluxe room, but it turned out to be a very basic room with bed, a couple of plastic chairs, a table and fantastic sea view. The simple reason provided by resort manager for not renovating rooms was that they were not allowed to do so as per the Coastal Regulation Zone norms. But I saw that the bathroom was renovated (it is clean after renovation) and the switches etc were replaced frequently as they get rusted regularly with rough sea weather. So, I believe even the room furnishings in terms of bed, bed sheets, curtains, mattress, pillows and furniture can be renovated without any hassle. I feel the regulation is applicable to build or make any permanent structures only. If bathroom can be renovated, why not the room furnishings. I was not convinced with the logic of regulation for room interiors. Improving room furnishings would be a great value add to this resort. Food: The resort has a decent menu with veg and non veg options. Breakfast was served at 8:30 AM with at least 3 items, the first day we were served Puri, Semiya Upma and Bread pakoda. Second day we were served Idly, Vada and Lemon Rice. The resort manager obliged to serve breakfast early on second day and also served Poori for my 4 year old son on request. Breakfast was good. We have ordered Veg fried rice, Roti, Pulka, kadai veg and Dal fry for lunch and dinner on both days and it was just average food. The resort serves only beer on menu. No fruit juices, but canned juice was available. Stay: We reached on the day one at 5 pm and immediately went to play in beach, spent time until 6:45 PM and back to room. The first night we were not able to spend outside in the common dining area as there were lot of mosquitoes. We had our food in the room only. No TV in the room (no concern), so you would really want to spend time outside, but couldn't. The second day morning we hit the beach at 7 AM and played until 8:30. After breakfast we booked an island trip provided by the resort in a boat which took about 1 hr 30 mins. They charged 3500 for up to 7 people. We went together with another family of 5 and paid Rs 500 per person. We sat in the boat and he started the ride without asking us to put life jackets. I have asked him to first give us the life jackets, the boat rider said not to worry, but I said accidents don’t tell us beforehand and asked him to give life jackets immediately which were available in boat. The boat took us to a place 15 mins on the sea where we could spot 2 dolphins for 5 mins, then he took us to a small rocky island not too far away from beach. We stopped at island for 15-20 mins where we could take some photos, the rider showed us Porcupine fish, silver fish and some big crabs. Later we returned to the resort in 20 mins. The resort arranges the boat ride (I paid at resort), so they should make sure that safety standards are followed by the boat personnel. We spent time in the room until 1 pm had our lunch and started to Murudeshwar at 2:15 PM. It took about 1 hr 15 mins drive by car, we spent an hour at the temple. We were lucky as there was absolutely no crowd being a Tuesday. We could park right next to the temple and just walk into temple. We started back at 4:30 PM and reached by 5:30 PM. We spent time until 7:15 in the beach. Fortunately there was cool breeze and no mosquitoes on second day. So we had spent time out near to beach with food and drinks. We spent next day morning again at beach until 8:00 am. We were ready by 8:30 for breakfast and left at 9:30 for Chikmagalur. Service: Sandesh and staff were available at service whenever you need. It was amazing. Conclude: Location is perfect and it makes up for all odds. Great service and average food. I would return back every year if they improve room furnishings. Overall I would recommend to visit the resort to enjoy the private beach and service.
