Hotels in Vikas Bhawan, Port Blair
A big cheaters. They loot your money saying it's difficult to get tickets for this, that etc and charge you double or triple the actual cost. Though we wanted to check the tickets ourselves for ferry they made us not go there by manipulating cab driver we hired for our 2 day stay at Port Blair. PERFECT CHEATERS !!

Let's start with the positives...the room was very clean and the owner very friendly and helpful with advice on the area, where to eat and how to get to places of interest. there was a member of staff on permanent call, very smiley and would do what he could BUT he didn't speak a word of English and as we don't speak Hindi or whatever this made things tricky. It was fine to speak with the owner but he wasn't always there. Now, regarding the room. It was not in the centre of town so not terribly convenient but it wasn't expensive to get a tuk tuk although they do try it on with the charges and refuse to use meters...same as most of India! The room was clean but about as basic as you can get. Fine is paying backpacker rates but at nearly £20 a night we expected better. The bed was so hard we might as well have been sleeping on the floor. we had a balcony which overlooked what looked like a rubbish dump. There were constantly people sifting through the rubbish so we had to leave our curtains closed for privacy. On the upside it's quiet at night. Breakfast...they would be better to advertise as room only and not include breakfasting the deal. Day one we got four slices prepacked (sweet tasting) bread toast with a Rs2 packet of jam that looked like a shampoo sachet and a cup of chai - the chai on the trains tasted better. They woke us up at 6.30am to ask us what time we wanted it. We said 8am, it came at 9am. Day two we said we wouldn't bother if they could only give toast. We were offered dosas...we like dosas but when they turned up they were nothing like any dosa we had tasted before. Basically awful and no chai at all. Day three we didn't bother. There are no restaurants as such in the area as its residential but the owner told us of a hotel with a restaurant nearby so that served us well for evening dinner. The owner also helped us to get a taxi to our next destination.

Stayed 6 nights here. Budget hotel in Port Blair. But no room service. Guys are not much helpful. This is a lodge type stay only and nothing more. If you don't care for services, this is for you. Location is good and near bus stand and market area. Foo ding not available, but nearby restaurants available. They will not assist you much in sightseeing activities.

Out of city and while visiting on Ireland then it will be costly every day. Poor Food quality even staff don't know to cook the required dish. Very inflated priced rooms. Getting 1500/- room from MMT on approx double pricing after discount. Service are very slow even no morning tea was available in hotel. No wi fi connectivity at all there. Only 2G connection (very slow) was there and it is also working in reception area only.
