Not the Meridien standards of ....
Just got back from our usual visit to Dubai and the normally high standards of the meridian beach resort and spa. We've been going to this hotel for around 15 years now every year and sometimes twice bringing along different family members on many occasions we have to agree with I think it was a mr peterson's comments regarding the new and updated decor not looking its best even though it has only recently been completed. In our room A number of chair seat covers had been turned over to hide the stains on the cushions, bins in the bathroom weren't washed out just emptied, the service trays for the kettle hadn't been wiped clean all week. In the morning for breakfast there were many times were no cups or tea spoons weren't on the table and we had to ask for them plates and glasses were left on the table whilst we were eating our second course and I'm sorry to say that on a number of occasions children were running about and at times screaming whilst we were having dinner. We have 5 children of our own and certainly wouldn't let them run riot in any restaurant. Waiters and waitresses were on occasions too busy chatting so the services was definately not up to its in the past well earned 5 star status. So sorry to be negative as we have had amazing times at this hotel and gone back year after year but it was a disappointment this time and were sad to say that after being advised they were going towards a more family friendly market it will probably be our last vist to the Royal Meridian. We know it will still be a success the food is good. It's a great location and the gardens are lovely in fact it is perfect for families but if your looking for a true 5 star stranded I think maybe the Madinet, One and only and the likes will be the place to visit. Thanks for the memories Meridan you given us dome great memories

All you need in one place
While traveling by myself, I normally pick a boutique hotel, but came across this one for my first visit to Dubai. The hotel is about 30 minutes drive (100 dirham) from the airport when there is not a lot of traffic and perfectly located near marina/beach and a number of other five-star hotels. Check-in was quick and prcfessional and every interaction with the staff at the front desk was very pleasant. Although the building looks slightly dated from the outside, inside it is very modern, stylish, comfortable and inviting to make you feel at home. The rooms are spacious, and with all the comfort you expect. Fluffy towels, tea and coffee station, plenty of water bottles, every day fresh fruit, chocolates for bed-time, speedy WiFi and quality amenities from Malik & Goetz. The majority of guests (spread out in the various buildings) have breakfast which is a large buffet style one with a variety of international dishes, including sushi, daily juice shots, egg station, non-Muslim pork station (as they call it), Asian food and samples of rolls they can make for you. You can make it as healthy and unhealthy as you want. Coffee and tea is served at your table and you can decide whether to sit in- or outside. When it comes to spending time in the hotel, there is a big choice for every member of the family and age. There is a kids club, a teens fitness, various pools (check the one you like best), bars, restaurants, private beach and everything is tidy and of high quality. Including the changing rooms near the pool. You can sunbath almost everywhere in comfortable chairs with large towels and icecubes, wet towels and a service-bell is being provided. The food from the restaurants is what you expect from hotel food, slightly higher priced and not top-quality. I saw quite a few people who went to the supermarket (opposite hotel) or nearby Starbucks to get some lunch and eat it at their sunlounger. There is plenty of opportunity for pre and post dinner drinks. The spa has excellent treatments (but book in advance, as it is also open to external guests which might book during the weekends), and relax room with steam bath, spa, jacuzzi and mixed hamman pools. The gym is equipped with LifeFitness and Technogym equipment and looks out over the gardens. Service is perfect with plenty of water bottles, towels and own lockers. You can also book a PT if interested. All staff I met are very friendly and service-minded. Nothing is too much. The guests are a mix of everything, small/large group of friends, families, couples, solo travellers of all ages and background. Everybody lives with each other and the atmosphere is what you expect. Can not fault anything of this place. Highly recommend it.

Amazing hotel with amazing grounds no other hotel in Dubai has to offer. Exceptional staff and service.
The breakfast was the highlight of our day, thanks to the Manager John. Special shout out to Melanie at the reception, Shiva at the pool, Sayed the room attendant. The housekeeping manager Wayne. Abdul and Dhan and all the Valet staff! Even the Hotel Manager came to the pool to greet the guests in 39 degrees! Loved the Gym- not your average hotel gym! I just love everything about this hotel!
We will be back!

Another Great Holiday
Yet another great holiday with friendly staff from arriving at the drop off and being greeted by Nicholas, next stop main reception with an extremely warm welcome by guest services manager Eddy and colleague Midhun. The rest of the stay absolutely brilliant from Spa treatments to house keeping, and a very special mention to Thomas at Geales and Arul the pool service attendant. Our favourite restaurant being Al Khaima and being looked after by Rakesh and his staff, we are very much looking forward to returning to the hotel in September with the family.
