Old style hotel near the Gold ....
Stayed 1 night in a double en-suite room in Mar 13. I originally booked the nearby Queens Hotel but they were full so I was moved here. This is a very basic, budget hotel in a noisy, narrow street within walking distance of the Gold Souk, a main bus station and 2 green line metro stations (Al Ras & Palm Deira). There are also plenty of local shops and places to eat nearby. I stayed on a Friday and this hotel is very near the Mosque so the surrounding streets were full of men praying and the 'call to prayer' loudspeakers are very loud! and they go off at 5am! I'm not sure it's like this everyday. The reception is small and basic where they give you a real key, no plastic cards or codes here. The room was OK with a double and a single bed, a big flat screen TV and a fridge so you can keep your own drinks cold. The shower lacks pressure and the curtain doesn't reach the bowl so the floor gets wet, there's a sink, WC, some basic toiletries and nice big towels. There's no double glazing so there's alot of street noise especially at 5am! Overall an OK place for budget travelers and it's close to many public transport options.

Very good hotel except for the....
I have stayed in Al Arraf Hotel several times and it is a great hotel I love the interior, well organised and very clean. But on my last visit I checked in and as usual I was charged 250 dirham. The receptionist gave me the form to sign without indicating the price I am paying. Luckily when I was checking out I saw the form and the price indicated was 200 dirham. I realised this has been the trend with the two receptionists day and night shift. They have been pocketing 50 dirham on each visit no wonder they always make me sign without indicating the room rate on the form. So guests should be aware cos I believe it has been happening to others. I would kindly request the management to look into the behaviour of the two receptionists. Otherwise it is a great hotel.
