It's good

I've stayed at the Zurich Marriott twice. Both times the experience was good. This is a solid, clean hotel with well-trained and friendly staff. For an American traveling abroad in particular it's well-calibrated. The rooms are nice, somewhat recently refurbished, but not anything to write home about. The beds are not that great--the mattresses feel old. The room service food is fine. It's a bit inconvenient to downtown but not overly so. They seem to do a nice job taking care of Marriott/Starwood elites too. It's a good play to stay and feels fairly priced.

Great hotel right on the river....

We spent 7 nights at this hotel and found it to meet everything we needed. Our view overlooked the river which flowed with ducks and swans. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The convenience of the short walk to the train station for day trips and to the tour bus station for tours made it a great choice. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Music Hell From Platzspitz Par....

Be forewarned that no matter how nicely done the amenities and services are at this hotel, they cannot begin to compensate for the drawbacks. If you are staying at this hotel during nice weather, then Platzspitz Park will be an absolute music hell of pounding EuroTrash Disco beats all night long. That may be your idea of a great time if you're young enough, but for those north of 50 it might serve as an unwelcome preview of hell's soundtrack. You will not be able to get any sleep at all with the boom-boom-kaboom of the bass and all that. Also be aware that in the nice weather the side of the hotel will be baked to American Southwest temperatures, and the wimpy European air-con (quite the opposite of industrial strength Hong Kong-style air-con) will be helpless in its face. These shortcomings leave me no choice but to write this scathing review. Hey, I get it - these are factors the hotel has no control over. But better a prospective paying customer knows beforehand what they're getting into and doesn't shell out beaucoup Swiss Francs for the dubious pleasure of Stasi-level sleep deprivation.

Unfortunately, worst 4 star ex....

Dear Zürich Marriott Hotel staff and Dear potential clients, I took my time to leave the following long review, because I believe that accurate feedback and measuring customers' satisfaction is the only was to improve One's service or product. Me and my husband were guests of Zürich Marriott Hotel between 7th and 13th May 2018. The reason we stayed at the hotel was the annual EMEA business conference of the international company we are a part of, from Bulgarian party. Fist of all, I shall start my review with the positive impressions we have on the hotel. It is located very to the old town and the city centre (about 5min walking distance) and very close to a public transport station and the Central train station. The cuisine was very fresh and delicious, as well as the breakfast. The service at the restaurant was great, as well as the service at the coffee breaks during the business conference we attended. The rooms were very clean, wide and comfortable and the iron in each room is definitely a plus, although it wasn't in great condition. Unfortunately, these are the main positives we enjoyed during our stay, which, however are not good enough to neglect the negatives. We arrived at the hotel late on 7th May, after a long day trip to Lichtenstein and Chur. We were very tired and just needing to check in as fast as possible and take a rest. Unfortunately, we weren't welcomed as warm as expected and as we were already used to, being guests of several Swiss hotels during the preliminary week (Kipling Manotel, Geneva; Hotel Eden Palace Au Lac, Montreux; Kraus Bern Modern City Hotel, Bern; Hotel Astoria, Lucerne and Château Gütsch, Lucerne). A lady at the reception, after asking us how we were, asked us for our names and even after she heard our Surnames (which are the same, since me and my husband got married several years ago), she asked me if I was staying for six nights as my husband, or only for one. I asked her what she meant, because I couldn't believe the question claiming, that I wasn't exacly my husband's wife, but an escort or something. I just didn't know if I should laugh at that or get offended, especially, after we had sent to the hotel our names preliminary, when we made the booking two months earlier and it was obvious that not just one, but both of us were delegates at the conference. I prefer to believe that I misunderstood the unprofessional question, but please dear Zürich Marriott staff, keep in mind that it is not just a matter of professional standards but also a matter of inner class to make people that pay your salaries feel respected. After that, we were notified that she shall block 600CHF from our credit card, in case we consume something from the mini bar (?!) during our stay. We were really surprised because we've stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels all over the world and this is the first time somebody blocks a deposit for mini bar. Of course, our deposit was unblocked when I asked the same receptionist on the next day if it was the Hotel's policy for each guest or only for the guest from Romania and Bulgaria, because we've never felt as discriminated in our lives, as we felt in Zürich Marriott Hotel. Unfortunately, after we checked in, we barely slept, because our room was just in front if the elevators and we could hear people using it from 3 am. In the morning, we were awoken by the cleaning ladies at 8.30am, who entered our room as we had forgotten to put the "Privacy Please" label on the door lock. About two or three times a day, when we occurred to be in the room during the day, another lady, would knock on the door until we open (one of the times my husband was sleeping and I had to out from the shower to oppen the door), to give us chocolates. I wonder if this hotel's management understands that people go to hotels to have rest, not to eat chocolates 3 times a day. I understand they are trying to make their guests feel special, but I would rather prefer One to respect my right of privacy, especially when I'm paying for that. After all said above, we didn't even bother to notice the all day long construction works we were hearing from the mornings and during the days. We assume they happen rarely. After my confrontation with the lady at the Reception, the staff were very friendly and caring, trying to compensate our negative experience and I believe they have taken into consideration what they didn't do right. I am leaving this feedback with a clear mind that I would not want to harm the Hotel's reputation, but to give it's management a feedback to improve their services. It is a really good hotel, but the negative experience with the service does not make loyal clients. I believe that Horst Schulze (the creator of Ritz Carlton hotels) explained very simply and correctly what a customer needs: • the product/service to be defect free, • to be rec eived exactly when One needs it, and • to be presented with careful attitude. These are the conditions that should be fulfilled to make customers satisfied, and if fulfilled constantly, they may become loyal. Thank you, for your time. Kind Regards, Dea Popova

Great Last night in Switzerlan....

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Walkable to the old part of town. Lots of restaurants nearby. Great room, clean and updated. Room was a very good size with a nice bathroom. Mini bar was very expensive. Very large hotel with two towers and a bridge Connecting them.
