Talk about perfect Location an....

Our experience with this Hotel was excellent, the Staff, from Reception to Housekeeping and everything in between were great and helpful. They went over and beyond to help and give us the best experience while staying at a very nicely located area, close to shops and a 15 minute walk to the beach. Lots of fun with the shows that they had and funny animation staff. Extraordinary food/buffet and variety of choices with great service.

middle of the road

Stayed here with my husband for 10 nights this may, the hotel is in a good location 10 mins walk via the lift to the beach and 5 mins walk to the restaurants and bars with a small supermarket opposite. It was very clean and the maids did a very good job changing towels and sheets also friendly saying hello to you, air conditioning in room was very poor and old and the bathroom was very small but had a new walk in shower so that made up for it, there was a fridge in the room which was handy. The balcony was small but useable and we had a pool view, the double bed is rare in spain and was an added bonus, there was a dressing table with stool which was great but no light so was a little dark. The staff at the hotel are ok but some speak little English and some speak fluent, pool area very clean with bar, sunbeds and parasols not a problem tables chairs, small area but cosy. There are a lot of Spanish who use the hotel and some are rude some are ok but this didn't bother us ,the food is ok with bac eggs beans toast breads ect for breakfast and for evening meal there is plenty of choice pork, chicken, beef, pasta, chips ,a lot of fish dishes which was a little hard for me as I don't like fish but always found something to eat, the sweets were nice selection of ice cream cakes ,fruit and you can help yourself to as much beer wine and sangria as you want so overall not bad although they do need to improve labelling on the food has some food you can not tell what it is, has not everything has a label above it so this is bad if you have allergies. Its very easy to travel by bus from here bus stop just outside hotel and will take you to beny, mijas, Malaga, ect all buses are cheap around 1.50 each way and are worth visiting. There is a safe in the room costing 4 euros a day. The beach is fantastic sunbed and parasol 5 euros, hotel is not suitable for children theres nothing for them apart from the pool, all in all middle of the road but nice stay.

Pleasantly surprised

This was our first visit to spain, despite having travelled extensively. But we had previously had day trips to Seville and Barcelona before. We chose the ROC Flamingo because it was off the main drag but easily approached from the promenade by lifts, although there are steps for the able bodies. We were greeted by two very friendly receptionists who dealt with us promptly. They indicated that the room would be wall facing so we opted for a pool view room at an extra 2 Euros a day (a notice displays this facility). At least it was better than getting to the room and then deciding we had to move. The rooms were as advertised on the website, fairly up to date, spacious, with laminate flooring with lovely bathrooms. No bath but a very spacious shower, very modern and well equipped. The dining room was impressive, modern with plenty of seating where staff worked very hard to keep things going. Excellent choice of food with a lovely salad bar and various pastas, sauces, meats, fish and stews daily. A separate island contained salad mixtures, meats and cheeses as well as herb shakers, oils and dressings. Chefs served different meats and fish to order daily and the sweet counter had an extensive range of deserts and fresh fruits. Breakfast was equally good, with a good choice of eggs (fried, scrambled, boiled) as well as the usual accompaniments. There are three strategically placed coffee/tea machines as well as two toasting machines with ample supplies of fresh breads and rolls continually cooked in a bake off oven nearby. Daily wine recommendations on display although we were all inclusive. Nevertheless the wine was okay, coupled with Sangria with a nice little touch of orange and lemon slices to accompany your drink. The pool bar was indoors with nice seating and a good selection of meats, pizzas, hamburgers, salads, fruits, teas and coffees if you preferred to stay by the pool. There were plenty of sunbeds and the pool was cleaned regularly and of a good size. The hotel is located in the town among shops, bars and restaurants with a nearby bus stop and entrance to the underground rail station for those wanting to explore. The old town is nearby and a leisurely walk but uphill for a bit. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard and I can honestly say the staff were all extremely pleasant. The entertainment was basic with discos, bingo etc but there was an excellent flamenco show on our last night. There is an entertainments team but since there weren't many children about, they were a bit devoid of candidates during the day, although a few adults did participate. The hotel is favoured by Spanish people though but there were a few English speaking Swedish, Danish, and a few English and Scots around The hotel has a shuttle bus which goes to the beach although there are steps and lifts and it is not far. The Plaza is quite pedestrian and fairly accessible all around for those with mobility problems. We did see a number of people with disabilities out and about and I think the Costa del Sol is well equipped for this in terms of hires of scooters. On the whole I wished we had stayed longer than the one week, but we will certainly return the ROC Flamingo.
