I thought we booked a 4 star??....
This is definitely NOT a 4 star Hotel.
A 4 star designation infers quality/or high standard. No one on reception spoke English which suprised me. They were surely and rude when asked anything. Tried calling reception , no answer ended up having to go down 5 floors to them!! Rooms lacked basic items you get in a 1 star- small kettle, cups etc.Room came across as a bit tacky. No English channels on the Tv. Some times nice to chill out after hard days exploring. Not that I use them but found location of Bide and toilet weird? Thought the two supposed to be next to each other for obvious reasons? Not in this hotel. You need a sat nav to find best routes between the two. God help you if you suffered from a stomach problem!!!!
Saving grace of this hotel - location very central. 10 minute walk to Gran Plaza. Tip-Bring comfy walking shoes. Not all pavements are level or flat slabs.
The staff grunted when asked where to find a good place to eat, ended up hunting location. Found fantastic cafe around corner- called "The two Brothers" (get spanish translation). Great food, great prices great staff. Open all day surprisingly.
The only saving feature of this hotel was on last day. Taxis were on strike. But Staff made no attempt to warn anyone travelling to airport of this problem. So we were left with thought of a long walk to bus stop, potential long wait for bus. Possibility of missing flight home. As no one on staff spoke English they couldn't tell us about bus times ,routes etc. On reflection, they weren't even the slightest bit interested in helping.
At last moment as an after thought one person mentioned - CABIFY. Its uber but safer than uber. Its a spanish app for taxis. When you book via the CABIFY app you are given name of driver, the car reg for your safety. You can actually see how far away he is and his time of arrival on the app and they offer you free bottles of water!!. FANTASTIC. You are treated like a rock star.- a 6 star service which shamed the Gran Hotel Lar. Also you pay for it using pay pal or credit cardvia the app. So no need to worry about payment at end of journey. Fantastic service, hope we get if in UK soon. And most importantly far far cheaper than taxi hailed on street
Finaly, loved Seville, need at least a week in this beautiful city. When coming back will look for hotel in the Gran Plaza- will save time and my feet!!!!

4 stars? It is a joke!
Hotel needs renovation. 4 stars? It is a joke. Old facilites, furnitures, etc. Whole hotel is old and vintage. The biggest problem is with stuff. They are rude and unkind. Their english level is very low. They are not helpful. Only one advantage is localization.

This hotel is a good option in Seville, very near the historic center although it may not be easy to locate. Clean and not expensive. Good breakfast. It is not easy to park the car outside and the hotel park is small.

Unpleasant desk staff
The room was clean and adequate, but the woman working at the desk was unpleasant and unhelpful. It took forever for her to answer the phone, so I went downstairs with my question. She behaved as though she had been "interrupted". I'm very fluent in Spanish and love all the Spanish people I've met travelling in Spain. However, this woman needs some training in social skills and if she worked for me, she'd be fired.

Located within walking distance to all major attractions, Alcazar, Playa des Toros, plaza des Espana etc... Older hotel but has all the basics including a good AC unit and nice breakfast. Staff was polite and friendly
