Basic - but what do you expect....
Just gonna split this down the middle:
Good - friendly staff. Clean(ish) rooms. Close to red square (about 5 mins quick walking). Cheap as chips - 17 pounds for three nights accommodation.
Bad - impossible to find. There are no signs, and even when you find the building I couldn't work out how to get in. So I waited until someone came out! There is a code, but they only gave it to me after I had got into the building.
The building itself is appalling. Looks like a scene from the Texas chainsaw massacre! Felt very dodgy the first time I went I - but actually it's fine after a while now!!
Bedding is relatively dirty, so I'm using a jumper as a pillow.
Bathrooms aren't great either, but adequate...
What do you expect from a fiver a night? It's not exactly going to be the ritz! But for the weary traveller with no money - like yours truly - it's perfectly passable!!

Small and basic
Small and basic place, the girls working there were all very kind. Location is very good, in a quiet area and just a short walk away from Red square and other main attractions and cafés, etc. If you have troube to find it (there is really no sign on the door) just follow the hand on the wall of the building ;) We had the deluxe room, the only one with an own bathroom, which also was very basic, but we had worse places and stayed only 2 nights and the price was less than for the most hostels in Moscow, escpecially with an own bathroom, it really is an expensice city. If you are on a low budget and are not picky, this can be a good choice.

Very very bad hostel
The only reason why I wouldn`t say this is the worst hostel I have ever stayed is the location, very close to red square/city center.
Well, first, there is no common area at all, just a tiny little kitchen
you are not allowed to bring any alcohol inside
the bed sheets were very very durty
ZERO Atmosphere at the hostel, just russians were there and they didnt make any effort on making me feel confortable,
the hostel is kind of difficult to be found as there is no sign at all at the st.
you have to take out your shoes at the entrance even if the hostel is totally durty..
And I would like to add that I am totally not picky or anything, I hve stayed in many bad places but this was even below that,
My advice is to not stay there
ps: girls working there were trying to be nice but their english was very poor and they didnt know what to say when I asked where else to go after red square,

worst place I ever stayed!
That was really the worst place I ever stayed! I saw on the map that is very close to the city center of Moscow and I thought that it can't be that bad as the reviews are saying and I booked... But it was worse then I could imagine! The hostel is on the 3rd floor of a building - there is no sign and nobody knows about it. The DELUXE room in which we stayed, the only one with it's own bathroom, was very dirty, the sheet didn't seem clean at all, the carpet was stained and the shower, the sink and the closet were disgusting. Above all, the room is just next to the shared bathroom that everyone in the hostel is using, and you can here the door opening and closing all night long, every 10 minutes (we didn't sleep at all two nights in a row). There are guests that seem to live there, not friendly at all!
The girls at the reception are very kind and helpful, but this and the central location are really the only pluses. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you are desperate. You rather chose something a little far but close to a metro station or a bit more expensive.

An average hostel
This place wasn't terrible, but I have definitely stayed in better. However it is cheap so it will do if that's what youre looking for. It is located in an apartment and very small with about 25 beds crammed in. One shower and two toilets. Hardly any locker facilities available. Its in a good location and close to all the main sites. Kitchen and common room are tiny, and a lot of people seem to live in this hostel! Personally I wouldnt stay again, however I would reccomend it to people on a tight budget.
