Simple hotel

This hotel is located at 30 km of Moscow center, near the international airport (taxi:10-15 min). The hotel is clearly dedicated to conferences or student camps: numerous rooms, conf. rooms, big restaurant. The breakfast was a buffet with quite good food (crêpe, saussage, eggs, vegetable, ham, juice, tea, coffee...). The restaurant proposed basic dishes, simple and well-cocked, but not excellent. The room was very simple with the minimum equipment. What was really boring was the absence of internet in the rooms, this is not acceptable. Internet only worked at the lobby. The personnel was friendly, but not all employees speak english. For visiting Moscou, it is not easy to reach the city from the hotel, by taxi there is a huge traffic jam (1:00 to 1:30).

Avoid like the plague!!!!

I was here as part of a conference and discovered that it was AWFUL. From the moment I walked up the crumbling concrete steps and across the buckling tile, it was clear the place was old and untended. The staff were typically gruff and spoke NO English. We managed with minimal Russian. Rooms were dirty, tiny, with uncomfortable beds, and no fan (forget A/C). A summer camp of children and groups of teenagers kept up loud yelling until all hours (2:00 a.m. I was awoken by a party in the next suite). Despite non-smoking rules, they smoked all over. The shower could only be used 3 minutes at a time or it would completely flood the bathrooms floor. WiFi only in lobby, and it was slow and unreliable. Worst, food was served in a mucousy sauce (fish, beef... you name it), or heavily breaded. Very poor cooking. The "sports" grounds were completely overgrown with weeds and track was broken up. The weird buildings were stupidly planned and uncomfortable. Just not worth it.

Very very nice

Yes hotel is quite old but I would say very well mentioned and for 3 stars hotel offers very good service. The building of the hotel is gorgeous! Soviet chic. Marble staircases are beautiful. Chandeliers are unique. You can be scared at first that you have to bring the luggage up these stairs but staff are taking care of it for your relief. Not a lot from the personal speak English and it is a challenge for non Russian speaking guest but everybody try hard to understand and to help. Territory is huge and you can have nice walk around. Menu at restaurant is Russian mostly but they serve some international items as well. Food is Very testy and service is good. Big sweeming pool!

Awfull experience

This is the sort of hotel that you only come to stay if you have to be in the location. It is reasonably close to one of the airports so it can be convenient for an overnight stay as Moscow trafic is a nightmare. This hotel architects should be severely reprimanded for all the construction mistakes that were made on this relatively new construction. Everything is big in a grandiose and ugly way in this hotel. To access the elevators to the rooms you have to go up several flights of very steep and long steps and walk to the toilets you have to walk an increible long way. Rooms are strangely appointed with small toilet and very capricious shower which works only on certain occasions and badly mixes hot and cold water, beds are just ok but sheats smell of mold and the duvets are too small. I had a lux room so I hate to think what the standard wold be. Reception personel hardly spoke a few words of english and communication was very bad as they were not very friendly. Internet was permanently out of work and then on my last day only available in an empty room closed by a well guarded key. No computers available. But the worse of all was the food at the restaurant, a very basic breakfast and terrible dayly menus of greasy really bad food. This hotel is surrounded by green fields and has game rooms and a pool so it must be heaven for some local city people but for seasoned international travels it is a really bad choice.

So far from Moscow!

We stayed here for 2 nights during the Champions League final at a grossly inflated price you’d expect to pay in a central London hotel! Located in the North of Moscow, close to Sheremetyevo Airport, the Olympiets Hotel was built in 1980 before the Olympic Games in Moscow and renovated in 2006, but not to a very high standard. It takes 35-40 minutes to get to the centre of Moscow by metro, once you have reached the metro, a 30 min journey from the hotel by taxi!! Although I will admit the traffic was quite heavy.Taxi to the centre of Moscow is 1 – 1 ½ hours away and a cost of 2500 + roubles. The hotel consists of three buildings all connected by a central lobby and restaurant area, There is a 24 hour bar which serves basic food. The breakfast was disgusting – I think they took advantage of the football fans, expecting us to eat rubbish. Breakfast was a sausage, Russian style, with beans, rice or pasta, an orange, a yogurt and a slice of dry bread with jam. A fruit juice in a carton and a cup of instant coffee or tea, we didn’t bother with breakfast on the second day. The beds were uncomfortable and the bed linen minimum. Shower was ok, no shelf space and the towels just big enough to wrap round your hair. The receptionists didn’t speak any English. Getting into the centre of Moscow was a nightmare, on both occasions we waited over 1 ½ hours for a taxi to take us to the metro. The only positive aspect was the 24 hour bar to celebrate United’s win.
