Loved staying in a Palace!
We arrived muddy from our biking Camino but they graciously greeted us and showed us where to store the bikes. A family member checked us in to our beautiful blue room, gave us a tour of the public rooms, recommended where to eat dinner, and told us about sites not to miss in the town. Our shared bath had a great shower and plenty of hot water. It was a wonderful experience staying there.
We got up early and visited the Roman aquifer before the 9 am breakfast (extra cost). It is served around a single dining table. While it was fun to meet out guests, it was not as special as the rest of Conde de Ferreira Palace!

Charming, historic house. We had a large twin with large shower room. At least we knew we were in Portugal and not with IKEA furniture. Antique furniture, traditional rooms, excellant breakfast with china crockery not made in China. Altogether a wonderful experience in an historic house in an historic town.

Fabulous bit of Tomar history!
Wifi was intermittent, at best, due to the size of the home. Smoking was allowed on the adjoining balcony to our room (cigarettes were butted out in a pot). As non-smokers, this was not pleasant.
?We were greeted by the owner, Diniz, who was absolutely charming. He gave us a tour around the hotel, and shared the history of the building with great pleasure. We stayed in the newer part of hotel in a very large room with a beautiful balcony. The rooms were comfortable and very clean and the experience was fabulous! Free parking is available onsite. Hosts are very happy to allow guests to sit in the common areas and enjoy a glass (or two!) of wine by the wood burning fireplaces. Such a grand place!! Breakfast is available at extra cost. Be sure to ask Diniz for restaurant recommendations or sites to see!

We booked this as a luxury break from our villa in Tomar as we loved Tomar! What a disappointment. we booked the hotel as it had parking, on arrival we drove into the large courtyard in front of the property t be yelled at by lady from upstairs that we cannot park there but we park in the street. we advised that we booked the hotel as it had parking to be told the street is the parking and move it!! We moved the car but it was no the point!! the large car park in front of the hotel remained empty!!On walking in I have never been so surprised a large table as reception covered in paperwork and a SXXXXXXE we needed to check in. We were then given a tour of a derelict building which the main areas were for the governors to sit.......we were shown our room which in fairness was in the new block of the building but no locks on the door or extras such as a fridge or bar .We were given a key for the room which was at least at 10 inches long that we must keep with us = ridiculous so were left it in the car on the street - they advised us to do this....then had to collect it later. Next morning we went for breakfast - arriving in he ding room we were met by 1 people all sitting round one dining table. We has no where to sit so walked in and out. We decided to walk into Tomar and eat there ...on return the dining room was empty we left the massive key on the side and left......not to be repeated.
