A lovely stay
Chalet Saudade is a beautiful old home in Sintra transformed to a quaint and cozy in. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the comment areas are welcoming and even have complimentary port on the house! The staff are helpful when recommend sights and food in the area!
The complimentary breakfast at Cafe Saudade was delicious! Is included hard boiled eggs, a selection of cheese and meats, yogurt parfait, croissants, pastel de nata, and so much more! Coffee and orange juice were included and unlimited (this includes lattes and cappuccinos!!!)!!! My family and I concurred that the pastel de nata at Chalet Suadade was by far our favourite during our trip to Portugal.

Stand out breakfast
Highlight of the stay was definitely the amazing breakfast. Massive selection of meat, cheese, croissants, bread, fruit, yoghurt etc. Location was also great, 5 minutes walk from the station and restaurants. Very picturesque building and staff helpful/friendly. We arrived slightly early and were kindly allowed to check in anyway. Only small issue was the room was quite small and dark, however we were notified of this beforehand on an email. Safe and aircon available in the room. Would recommend one or two nights here!

Charming Guest House
This is a charming guest house in a great location in Sintra. We had a beautiful, large room on the main level. The room was comfortable and quiet. The staff are great about giving sight seeing advice (including a map and transportation options).
We did not mean to be, but we were difficult guests. Our flight to Lisbon was delayed and we arrived long after the front desk normally closes. We kept emailing the hotel, so sweet Helena was waiting for us when we arrived. She gave us specific instructions on how to find the free parking that is close by, but we got horribly lost. When we re-appeared 45 minutes later, sweet Helena was still waiting for us.
Breakfast at the café around the corner was very good and there is a really nice restaurant (Incomum) directly across the street.
The guest house was perfect. But we should have followed the advice of the guest house and not driven to Sintra. We should have taken the train. The train station is a short walk to the guest house.

Great setting and location, very friendly staff, clean, incredibly pretty and charming.
With its charm come some minor drawbacks - for example a smallish shower, an old toilet that takes a few flushes and - in our room - poor internet. However, such things are totally outweighed by its charm. The breakfast in the nearby associated Café was also excellent - and again, the staff outstanding. In the weekend, parking may be a challenge, but we parked near the railway station on a busy Saturday morning. The Sintra sights are all wonderful of course. There was a lot of mist during our stay, but that actually made the Moorish Castle look even better.

Charming House in the center o....
We stayed here 3 nights in room #4 .... lovely! This room is very spacious, as it is one of the larger rooms overlooking the garden in the back. Super comfortable King Bed, and great shower in the bath. One note ... apparently the Portuguese do not use washcloths/facecloths. In this and the other three places we stayed during this trip you get hand towels and baths towels. Just a heads-up that I'd never seen on any posts. Location is really good. Short walk to some great restaurants, as well as the train/bus station, and National Palace . We had opted to use their recommended car transfer from the airport in Lisbon, and enjoyed a lively conversation with our driver, who gave us some good general information during the trip to Sintra. Delivered us without hassle to their door, assisting with luggage, all for what we would typically spend for car service in the states from home to the airport, if we're not leaving a car. The common areas are cosy and comfortable. The sunroom is a great place to chat with other guests, and enjoy some nice complimentary port in the afternoon. The Cafe Saudade around the corner where the complimentary breakfast is served is wonderful.
It is a set meal where we typically had each morning: the freshest orange juice in the world, choice of coffee/tea/espresso/cappuccino, bread basket with crusty country bread and croissants, hard boiled egg, slice ham and prosciutto, and two cheeses. PLUS the Pastel de nata - Portugal's special little pastry tarts. Having this spread included in the price of the room makes an already reasonable rate a true bargain. Would definitely choose to stay here again! The staff were all friendly and eager to please. Staying at Chalet Saudade was a wonderful "welcome" to Portugal!
