Superb Nepalese Homestay!
We stayed with Nima and his lovely family for 7 weeks in total and were absolutely delighted with our experience! The homestay provides a highly authentic insight into Nepalese culture and is refreshingly different to a normal hotel. We loved getting to know Nima and his family along with all the other guests at at the homestay, it made for a really pleasant and welcoming environment throughout our time there.
Nima's wife Sharada is a superb cook and breakfast and dinner are organised according to your schedule each day. The rooms are basic but have plenty of space and are perfectly clean. There is a Western toilet and shower. The only downside was the lack of air conditioning in the rooms, however whenever we got warm, we popped up to the balcony which has a stunning view of the Kathmandu. The location is right in the heart of Kapan, Kathmandu away from the more touristy City Centre (Thamel) and is a 20 minute walk away from Boudhanath Stupa (a major tourist attraction with lots of cafes, restaurants and shops surrounding it).
Nima also runs his own trekking and tourist agency which was really useful when it came to planning fun activities in and around Kathmandu. Everything was supremely well organised and we could rely on Nima to help us with everything that we wanted to do. We hope to return to the homestay one day and would recommend it to anyone hoping to immerse themselves in this beautiful country.

Best Nepalese experience!
This was by far the best accomodation experience. Nima and his family are so wonderful and kind. They go above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable (and not hungry!!) The food they prepare for you in delicious and traditional. We even made momos together. Nima took us for a trek during the day which we wouldn’t have been able to do without him. The rooms are spacious and clean. I can’t recommend Nima and his family enough. Definitely a Nepal just do.

Delightful Family, Wonderful E....
The Friendship Home Stay is home to a beautiful Tamang family who provided an authentic and friendly Nepalese experience. The accommodation is clean and comfortable, meals are delicious and family members are a wealth of information. Through years of experience in the family trekking business, Friendship World Trek, they are able to provide valuable information and assistance regarding your time in Kathmandu and wider Nepal. They are more than happy to answer questions regarding Nepalese culture and etiquette. We are looking forward to staying at Friendship Homestay when we return next year.

Experience Nepali hospitality
It was kinda of last minute that we decided to do homestay and so we only got to spend 2 days at Friendship Homestay towards the end of our trip. The homestay is clean and basic but has everything that you need - hot shower, good beds, comfy blankets and internet. The whole family is very warm and friendly. The highlights are Mrs Lakhpa's cooking - her Dal Bhat has the special spicy sauce that I really like and breakfast was served at the balcony on the 3rd floor with nice morning breeze and nice view of the surrounding monasteries and hills. I also like that it was a bit further away from the city center, not touristy at all. Our host, Sunder who was also our trek guide took us by foot to visit the famous Boudhanath Stupa that is 20 mins away. Along the way you really get to see the local way of life - the back alleys, the corner shops, local retails, schools, markets, road side snacks etc. I recommend this for folks who wish to experience Nepali hospitality.
