Acceptable but not memorable
I had a small, rather cramped room with all the basics - comfortable bed, clean linen, nice towels, working shower, hot water, TV, fridge, tiny table and upright chair, but it was not a room I could feel relaxed or at home in. We had three brilliant, hot days and the room was stuffy and airless. I was told that they had only just switched off the hotel's heating system and it was not time to start the air-conditioning. Keeping the windows open at night was problematic, and when successful, the narrow passge beside the bed was blocked. The breakfast was acceptable though the coffee was terrible and I took the option of one of dozens of cafes in the area to have decent coffee in the mornings. The staff (a succession of middle-aged men in suits at the slightly disorderly reception desk) were helpful and friendly. The location is brilliant with easy access to all Venice's delights on foot or from the nearby vaporetto stop. Walking distance to the train and bus stations, even with luggage. As a place to lay your head it was OK (except for the stuffy room) but it offers very little more than that.

Was by far one of the best stays i had, i had a hotel before this one which was terrible but this hotel gave me what i was looking for and it was worth the money! Service is great also, breakfast is included, wifi is also free and the hotel is located near to the centre of the islands, great for a holiday stay, i recommend this hotel!!

3 days in Venice
Very nice hotel and affordable for few days. Very friendly staff and breakfast is tasty. Hotel rooms are in old style what brings out the beauty of all trip. Bed in the room is comfortable. You can set a temperature in room as you like.

Very pleasant place
I've been there with a friend for a short trip to Venice. The room was cozy and we found everything in great condition. The staff was very helpful, they pointed us to every major location worth visited. We tasted the breakfast, the Italian food never lets you down. I will definitely return to this hotel in a future trip.

Amazing trip to Venice!
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at La Forcola! I’ll address our take on the recurring themes in other reviews:
- Room size: Yep, it’s small! But that’s no different than the rest of Venice/most large cities in Europe. We had a canal view room with a balcony (which definitely made the room feel bigger). It was really neat to see the boats drive past. The balcony really made our stay special! For as small as the hotel was, i would have thought that we should have been able to hear the other guests, but we never did.
- Bathroom: very small, no counter space. If we had one gripe about La Forcola, this would be it.
- Breakfast: We liked it! Typical European, light, continental-style breakfast of fruit, meats and cheeses, pastries (really tasty croissants), etc.
- Location: Worked great for us. 5 min walk to the train station, and 15-20 minute walk to St. Mark’s Square. And it’s a really beautiful walk! The hotel itself if located on a busy street with lots of shops and restaurants, but you can easily duck down into the back streets and you’ll be amazed how quiet it gets so quickly!
- Staff: Very friendly and helpful
Overall, from all the research we did, we were really pleased with the hotel. It was small, and it was a bit dated, but for the price (Venice is expensive!) and the fact that we were in it for the location, rather than the room itself, we were happy! The canal view/balcony was what really set this place apart. Thank you La Forcola!
