Casa Fornaretto review

Here is the overview: Cons 1. The place is near impossible to find unless you have a great gps system. It has no awning or marking on the building. It's in a alley where even the other b&b and hotels have never heard of it. ALL it has is a small sticker on the intercom. See pics attached. So most couldn't even find it. 2. It says it's a b&b it's NOT. There is NO breakfast. What this place does is knock on your door at some awful early time, and puts a small plastic bag on your doorknob with one old croissant in it. They call that breakfast. 3. We arrived on time and late afternoon. After spending 1.5 hours looking for this place and i know Venice like a pro, we rang the buzzer. No one answered. We spent 1.5 hours outside until another guest opened the door. Buzzer wasn't working. 4. Once inside a lady was there that didn't speak one word of English. She used a mobile phone to translate her words. That took 30 minutes. She overall hated her job. 5. The room had NO curtains. The lights by the bed didn't work. And the window in bathroom couldn't be closed. 6. This place rates a 3 star. It's NOT. It's a 2 star at best. It should ONLY charge €45 euros a night max. Not €150 or more. It's a rip-off. 7. The pictures it shows and write up is basically bs. Pros 1. It's SOMEWHAT in a good location. About 200 yards from the taxi ferry on the canal. And 250 yards from Rialto bridge. Far from St. Marks square. 2. It's quiet.

Great stay

We really enjoyed our stay here, super convenient location, easy to catch the vaphretto or walk from the station. Denvier was lovely and although she had very limited English she had written up a nice documents of things to do, restaurants.. it was a lovely surprise getting some crossiants in the morning & nice having a coffee machine in the room. We complicated check in a bit from reading the other reviews & it was so simply, we received a code the evening before for the door & our keys were waiting on the first level when we arrived. Possibly easy to miss as the sign is so small, but if you look at the photo we've posted it's right opposite this sign walking down the street.

Comfortable

I must admit, that their description “how to reach their place” is really helpful and easy. From the airport take bus ACTV or ATVO (both for 8Euro) and it goes directly to the main station Piazzale Roma, where you take a waters (vaporetto in Italian) and got to stop Ca’ D’Oro. The check-in description was quite confusing, because there is written, that you need to check-in in another place, which is open only to 2pm. But in the other e-mail is written, that you need to check-in to 6pm and than you need to check-in on your own to Casa Fornaretto. I arrived to Casa Fornaretto around 5pm and there still was some lady. She didn’t speak English, so I thought she was a cleaning lady. But after a while she gave me keys from my room. Anyway the room was really nice, warm and clean. The bed with fluffy duvet is very comfortable. I would recommend this place to anybody, who wants to save some money, but still wants some comfort. :)

No confirmation and no informa....

The room and building itself is very comfortable and of a good size in a very good location where everything is easily accessible. However, even before arriving I was not overly impressed. I was sent emails from booking.com to confirm the time of arrival which i sent twice and both times I did not receive a confirmation from the hotel. I also was not sent an email for the code or even how they expected us to get into the building on the first day as I said we were arriving between 6-7pm (after check in). This consequently left us and another couple, who we luckily bumped into outside, stranded at 6pm!! As a result we had to book ourselves into another hotel for that night, otherwise we would have been homeless! The next day we went to the hotel again and FINALLY someone answered the hotel phone (even though we continuously rang it on the first day) that was provided on the website as a way to contact them if no one is there. Once we finally received our keys a day later the room Itself was comfortable and nice.
