Great stay and great breakfast....
La mela hotel was a great for my partner and I. The room was great and comfortable. The only problem was with our bathroom as the previous people staying in left a lovely treat on the toilet brush for us leaving a smell the whole time we were there..... we were too embarrassed to go down and mention it in case they thought it was us ??
Breakfast was great every morning with a selection of drinks and food. There was always a little variety of each of the things like different fillings in the croissants.
Reception was always helpful.
There is a bus stop down the road going to anagnina metro station. Buses run pretty regularly or it's about a 20-30 minute walk. When you get to the metro make sure you go over to the set of booths and get a ticket for the line (otherwise you'll be waiting a while) they'll call your number out. We got the 7 day pass which includes buses, metro, trains and trams in Rome for €24 each. Amazing price and definitely worth it if you want to explore a lot!
There's a swimming pool beside the hotel and a supermarket down opposite the bus stops and a couple restaurants.
La Mela was a great relaxing stay and perfect for a cheaper hotel. As long as you're not bothered about being far from the centre of Rome and are happy to travel 20 mins on the metro to wherever, then this hotel would definitely suit you.

Not the best service
Our group stayed here after we landed in Rome. Clean hotel , with good breakfast and no wifi). Our toilet broke the night we stayed there and we phoned the lobby for service. Nobody came. We had to make do with a flooding toilet. Far from everything.

Too far away..
Although the hotel is ok and the staff quite helpful the hotel is too far away from Rome and the airport . There is nothing in the area for tourists to do and it did not feel a safe place to walk around. The metro station is too far to walk to, the buses were unreliable so it would cost about 15 euro to get to the metro.

Ok for 1 night
We stayed here after we landed late evening at Rome Ciampino airport. Basic hotel , witgh breakfast and free wifi(some people said about that they charge for a wifi) - 20 min walk from the Metro station Anagina. Or few minutes bus ride from that metro - but bus doesnt go pretty often. Good value if you want a place to sleep and spend all day doing sighseeing in Rome.

Too far from city centre, not ....
We booked a 2 night stay at La Mela on groupon as we thought we were getting a good deal for a 4 star 'luxury' hotel which was advertised. We were happy to travel for 20 mins to get into the centre of Rome which is what the hotel website said, however we didn't realise we would have to get taxis to and from the metro station which was about 20 euros each way! Reading some of the other reviews it appears there was a bus that would have taken us but the hotel staff didn't mention this when we asked them how to get to the station. The hotel itself was definitely not 4 star - it was clean but very very basic. No free wifi, limited tv channels and none in English (I know we were in Italy but still, normally you get one or two channels.) It was the same in terms of facilities as any travelodge that I've stayed in, which are absolutely fine but your expectations are different when you go on holiday to a 4 star hotel instead of a budget hotel. There is no restaurant or bar food/snacks , when we arrived we asked if there was anywhere we could get some food and they told us we needed to go into the city centre to eat. We couldn't see anything around the hotel either, it really is in the middle of nowhere. It didn't feel like a very safe area, we felt very uncomfortable coming back out of the metro station on our first evening so for all of these reasons we decided to change hotels. We found a 3 star hotel which was 10 mins walk from the colosseum and it cost us less than the price we paid to stay at La Mela even on a groupon voucher - and it had more facilities as well! When we worked out we were going to spend more on taxis getting to and from the metro station than the price of a more central hotel there was no point staying.
