OK with shower issues
Check in lady very nice and helpful. Lobby comfortable. Breakfast was good. Big compliant is that the shower head was at knee-level in a tub with no curtain. One had to sit in the tub while constantly holding the shower head leaving only one hand free to clean. My wife unable to wash hair and water everywhere.

A nice place to stay in Rome
Regio hotel is located very well - right by the Termini Station which gives you access to entire Rome and Italy. Trip from the Fiumicino Airport took a little less than an hour.
The hotel itself is very clean, no signs of any stains, insects, etc.
The staff is very friendly and not very intrusive. Gave very detailed directions when asked for help.
I recommend Regio Hotel to anyone looking for a good value for the money.

OK Hotel--Marginal service
In my experience of staying at hotels I keep in mind the region I am traveling and, the country. Decidedly I have stayed in third world countries hotels who held no pretense and provided good service and conversely I have stayed in first world countries hotels who held pretenses and received sub par service. This review is of the latter type.
I have read with interest some of this hotels reviews and. Their responses, which seemed to be defensive in tone and a cut and paste from a script. I would like to address all concerns one might have regarding this location and make transparent what one might expect if staying here based on my experience.
Staff: I have never had the issues arise with staff as I did here at any other hotel I have stayed at with the exception of Mexico. Upon checkin it was a rather cold and hard greeting. In this case it was the Manager of the hotel. Given how we were treated for a boutique hotel I was not the least bit impressed by their hospitality. It was easy to see why the rest of the staff acted in kind.
I do have to say when we asked for a different room they did address this issue quickly when the Manager saw I was not going to give up.
I asked the following morning if I could have change for $10 euro. I was instructed to go across the street and get my change from one of the many stores as they 'did not have enough change'.
The following day I was visiting the breakfast buffet and getting a cup of coffee to go back to my room with and one of 'the multilingual staff' who spoke only Italian actually yelled at me for getting coffee to take back to the room. I say yelled because the breakfast room attention tilted in my direction to see why she was talking to me like this. When I told her in Italian I did not understand her she shook her head, put her hand up, and walked away. I was mortified! I then went to the front desk and asked if what I was doing was not permitted and the receptionist said yes it is permitted. When I told her the unusual discourse I experienced she said she would take care of it.
The rooms were cleaned up on a daily basis and the maids were actually nice when approached.
Rooms: the first night I was here I stayed in room 506. This room was really small and had only a bathtub. This is why I asked for another room. The mattress is no better than a boxspring with sheets and was extremely hard. Two flat pillows were provided. The temperature could not be regulated from the room by my experience so you have to open a window.
The rooms at the front of the hotel face onto a busy street with major bus lines that run from 4:30 am till late evening. One bus after another runs by here and there are three in a row most of the time. It is almost as noisy as the major construction going on with the building across the street every day.
I had the opportunity to move to another room at the back of the hotel to accommodate my need for a shower. This was room 101. I have to say this room had more space but came at a price.
This hotel is long and narrow facing the street and is approximately 2 rooms deep. Behind the hotel is a restaurant called La Famiglia which runs along almost the entire backside of the hotel. Their kitchen is resplendent with industrial fan, and full staff which is located behind room 101. The audible conversations, fans, chopping, rattling of pots and pans can be clearly heard from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm when they are done with cleanup. The mattress was another boxspring with sheets on it.
I would have said something to the front desk but after my previously mentioned experiences with their staff I bit the bullet.
The location of the hotel is very nice. It is a 5 minute walk from Rome Termini and central to most sights. I found the location to Termini convenient because I was able to get a cup of coffee in the morning before the buffet opened.
Decor: marble is located throughout the interior. The furnishings are modern and not in 'classic Italian style'. The previous hotel I stayed in had classic Italian style and was rather sumptuous. This hotel reminded me of a middle class family made good who were trying to pass something off for something it was not. It was clean, functional, and sturdy--not classic Italian.
If you need a hotel for the night or two at the most I would recommend here. It is rather handy to the to the train station.
I'm giving this hotel 3 stars but only because there is no way I can give them 2.5 for completely average.

Good hotel for reasonable pric....
My sister and I stayed Hotel Regio from April 10th-April 14th for our first time traveling internationally. For the most part we didn't have any issues with the room. It is small but it wasn't an issue since we weren't in the room all that much except to sleep. The bathroom had no standing shower, just a handheld shower head, so we ended up just taking baths every night, which for us was fine because we had walked so much everyday that the bath felt good to soak our tired feet and muscles. The pillows were very flat but when we doubled them up it was fine. We stayed on the road side of hotel and had to sleep with the window open because our room was very warm, and the buses and trash trucks made a lot of noise late into the night which did make our sleeping difficult. That was our only real complaint of the room was the noise outside during the night. Other than that, we enjoyed the breakfast in the morning, the staff was friendly and spoke good english, it was very close to the termini station, and we could walk pretty much anywhere else. We felt safe in this location, and the restaurant across the street ended up being one of our favorites! Would recommend if looking for a hotel on a budget.
