Hotel Opera Roma
Bait and switch
A horrible experience. At check in, we were told we would have to go to a different hotel: plumbing work being done in our room. (Multiple reviews on both Expedia & Trip Advisor discussed this problem, but we did not see all of them before arriving.) I asked if there were other rooms; I was told there were no others available. I asked to see the room undergoing repairs. I was told, “That will not be possible.” I said I had a confirmation and wanted a room in the hotel I reserved. I was told I would have to stay at the other hotel. At the sister hotel I complained about the move to the staff.
I wrote a note to our travel site requesting immediate help with no response. After returning home I wrote two more complaints to the (unnamed) travel site, with responses that dismissed our problem with a comment about how we had accepted the move to the sister hotel. We were in a foreign country with no knowledge of the law related to such bait-and-switch tactics. Finding another hotel at the last minute at a reasonable price, while dragging our luggage, was not on our radar as we tried to check in.
We made a reservation & received a confirmation, just like those who reviewed this hotel & complained about having to move to the sister hotel. Opera Roma would not work with us; our travel website did nothing to help while we were in Rome, nor did they help or address my specific concerns after we returned home. Stay away from Hotel Opera Roma. The sister hotel, Hotel Sonya, was adequate and our room was clean. The staff was generally helpful and friendly.

Nice city stay
Me and my husband stopped here for a long weekend hotel was ok for us no problems, room was clean we arrived early and they looked after our bags for us, breakfast could have had a bit more variety also breakfast room was small and one morning we had to take breakfast back to our room as there was no where for us to sit. The hotel is in a good location to the main train station and city tour bus stops there are also nice places to eat within the area. We were concerned that we might be moved to another hotel after reading other reviews but thankfully this did not happen to us. It would be nice if the hotel could explain why this happens on the reviews that have mentioned it or even advise people before they arrive. We might use this hotel again but we are put off by the prospect of been moved to another hotel.

Hotel Opera or Hotel Sonya?
This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had with a Hotel. We booked through booking.com to stay in Hotel Opera, upon checking in we were told we would be staying in their sister hotel, Hotel Sonya. My husband and I were exhausted and just decided to "roll with it." Our room at Hotel Sonya was disgusting. The bathroom was dirty, the room had a bad odor, the hallway smelt terrible, the pillows were old and dingy, and the room safe was operated by our hotel key (which we weren't comfortable with).
The room was so disgusting that we decided to contact booking.com to see what they could do. They were AMAZING, and told use that since they switched our reservation to Hotel Sonya without letting them know that we could deny the room. Hotel Opera was out of rooms so we ended up staying at Hotel Milton Roma a few blocks away. We had an amazing experience there and highly recommend booking.com!

Our first night in Rome was spent at Hotel Opera Roma. The location from Termini station was perfect. We were exhausted and it was nice and close. The location was good for walking to other sights as well.
We had a nice window overlooking the street. There was some night noise, but I think that is to be expected in Rome.
The rooms are very, very small...the bathroom smaller yet. It was fine for us as we have stayed in European hotels before, so we were not surprised. We were so happy to have very hot water and great water pressure.
Breakfast was wonderful and the server in the breakfast area had the most beautiful smile. It was so nice to have her welcome us each day. She made wonderful cappuccinos!

As walking up to the hotel, we missed it because the sign is so small so I'd be aware of that!
When we entered, the room wasn't ready yet so they took our luggage for us - no hassle at all. When we came back, they had already put our luggage in the room. We were then escorted to our room which was lovely! The room was huge and it had a king size (maybe bigger) and a single bed. We then walked downstairs to where there was the bathroom and then another huge room with a shower and gym equipment. The hotel was much more than we expected!
The only issue we had was when we asked the Receptionist to try and find out how much a taxi would be as we didn't want to get ripped off but she just refused.
