Very Nice Property
Unsure about the other negative reviews. We pulled up in our car and immediately someone was there too greet us and park the car. If you want to see Sicily go to Ragusa It is out of the way and you feel as if you gone back hundreds of years. The streets are small and can be difficult to drive but the step back in time is worth it.

Would Not Come Back
My wife and I visit Italy for about 10 days a year. This is out 10th year -- each time we travel with friends from Rome. We stayed 4 nights at Don Serafino. The place is pleasant and well located, but there are a number of small problems that take it down from a luxury accommodation to something quite mediocre.
First, the internet connection is very unreliable -- if you want to work from your room, play on Facebook, stream Netflix or reliably check your email, forget about it. The staff will tell you they will work on it, there was no change in either of our rooms over 4 days.
Second, the hotel suffers from poor ventilation. The lobby, while attractive, is quite unpleasant and the only thing that made the breakfast area tolerable was keeping the door open. Our room had a persistent air freshener smell.
Third, there are some pretty obvious design errors in the room. We choose what we though was the largest room/suite and it was quite large, with a nice sized bathroom, except that the designer forgot to push the shower/tub out an extra 6 inches from under the arch, making it impossible to stand in the shower if you are taller than about 5 ft 5 inches tall. At 5 ft 7 inches, I had to hunch over to attempt a half standing hand held shower.
Fourth, the lighting in the bathroom was on one side only, meaning it was necessary to shave, etc. with light on only one side of the mirror.
Fifth, the venting/fan system in the bathroom was malfunctioning -- it was either a loud rattle or underpowered, so we showered with the door open.
We had numerous other small problems -- nothing that ruined the trip, but for example the front door lock for the door to the street on the second level was broken for the entire 4 days we were here and there were other small maintenance issues that went unaddressed for the full stay -- things that one would expect could have been fixed in 24 hours if small maintenance issues were a priority.
It was definitely not bad--the breakfast was a wide selection of nice options, the location is cute and the place seems to be a new clever renovation, but it was definitely below the standards we've come to expect for similar accommodations and not a luxury experience.

Had mixed feelings
- Very friendly and helpful staff
- Good breakfast
- Large cave like room
- Great location
- Nice common sitting area
- Room smelt musty
- Lots of street noise
- The website is a bit misleading - they actually have two sites and only one site has access to the jacuzzi
- Our room was advertised as having a bath only (room 8), so I understand that’s what we got, but really not sure why they couldn’t add a shower head over the bath

!Great disappointment! Very ru....
We booked a Suite in an „Château Relais“.
We found a Totally humid and bad smelling cave.
As we were very sad, and It was evening, we asked for another room. This they gave to us.
The tiny bathroom had 1,5 Square Meter..
Next day they told us we had to pay the full Price of the not useable Cave room of 400. Euro. The owner did Not Even Talk to us!
Rarely we were treated so unpolite and unfair.
This Hotel is by far overselling in every way!

Lovely and memorable visit
As soon as we saw the photos of Locanda Don Serafino, we knew we wanted to stay here. It is located in Ragusa Ibla, the Old Town and is a small, personable and charming hotel.
We had no difficulty reaching the hotel. Staff sent exact directions for our drive and after a call to the front desk when we were a few minutes away, they met us and directed us to the front door. They parked our car for free, something in Sicily you learn to appreciate, and took our luggage to our room.
All staff were professional and friendly and there to help with maps, restaurant suggestions and all our needs. A lightbulb was required in one of our lamps and it was taken care of immediately.
The stairs to the room looked challenging but we managed them fine. This was the history and charm we were looking for. There is a street side door option instead but we never used it.
The bed linens were very fine and the towels large and soft. After long days walking the tub was appreciated.
Breakfast was laid out beautifully each morning with many choices of fruit, yogurt, breads, cakes, meats, cheeses, hard boiled eggs, local jams, oils, juices. Service was friendly and proper
The hotel is a five minute walk to the Duomo and piazza where shops and restaurants are plentiful for variety.
We recommend a stay here. It really was a treat.
