Housed in a group of 19th century stone buildings, the Scots Hotel Tiberias is set on the shores of the Sea of Galilee just north of Tiberias, overlooking the Golan Heights. Mount Tabor, set 30 kilometres from the Scots Hotel, offers panoramic views of the area whilst Tel Aviv Airport (TLV) is 100 kilometres away. Mentioned in the Old Testament, it is also believed to be the site of the Transfiguration of Jesus.
The hotel is located in one of the most gorgeous and evocative places on earth, the Sea of Galilee. The pool area is absolutely dreamy. But for some strange reason, the hotel management chooses to close the pool at 5 pm when sunset isn't until at least 7 pm at this time of year. This definitely lowers the value one gets from the stay.
