Great Location/ Quaint/Nice Up....
We enjoyed our stay in this charming inn. We were in a standard smart room and it was pretty tight quarters for 2 but fine for a night. Many nice upgrades, with lighting, fixtures, and decor. On-site free parking was so convenient and location is literally right outside the entrance to the walled part of town. It looked to have a nice restaurant and relaxing front porch with seating but we did not have a meal there. Breakfast has a great review but a little pricey to us at 14,50 euro/person. Would definitely stay again! Fantastic town to visit.

What a wonderful long weekend!....
My husband and I stayed here for a long weekend - upon arrival, we were upgraded to a three person suite on the top floor - while the hotel does not really have air conditioning as I read in Hotels.com, the room came with an air mover of sorts and between the large door opening to the back and large sloped roof window, we managed. The room was huge with plenty of room for dog crates and us - The bed was quite large, came with oodles of pillows, but could really have used some memory foam as a topper - a bit hard for me. The single bed serves as a sofa when not in use. No refrigerator or micro, as we have become accustomed to in most 4 star places in the States. But there was plenty of ice available upon request. That being said, all else was extraordinary. The staff is ever so attentive - bringing us espresso maker refills several times cheerfully - huge bathroom in room with lots of water pressure and hot water. Breakfast was an additional fee - 14.5E, and a bit pricey for what was available. Eggs and omelettes cooked to order were a nice addition. The juices were all fresh and the water with mint was yummy. Great coffees, of course and I think I may have become a latte macchiato addict. Odd that the hotel kitchen takes one of their days off on Sunday, which was inconvenient but forced us out to dine within the walled city, which is seriously only 200 yards away or so from the front door.

Bad experience in new Annex Al....
When we checked in we were offered an upgrade to a larger room in their new annex AltoEgo. We accepted but regretted the decision. Our room (10) was on the second floor. There is no lift. There was still work being done to finish the building. There was an open electric socket, no sealant round the shower, and a lose rack standing by the wall. The room looked stylish but hadn't been checked and was very impractical. The shower didn't drain and the basin was very tall and narrow with a water pipe that was far too long. It was difficult to wash your face without bashing your teeth on the pipe. There was no place to hang clothes and no shelves for clothes. The large bed was placed diagonal in the room taking a lot of room. The floor was wooden boards painted black. There were no fire instructions or any hotel information. There was an Ipad but no instructions how to use it. We tried to book a meal in the hotel restaurant a week before we arrived but unfortunately they would not take us. We filled a review and handed to reception before breakfast and asked them to read it, which they hadn't done when we checked out.
On the good side the breakfast was good and the reception were sympathetic offering a token bottle of wine otherwise the review would have been 1 star.
We won't be going back, especially not the AltoEgo annex.

Won’t be returing
While the hotel had a lot of opportunities to shine, it just did not meet expectations. On Hotels.com it showed renovated, romantic looking upgraded rooms. So I booked the upgraded room in hopes of a romantic weekend trip for my husband and I. The room we were given was outdated and had not been updated - this room was not shown on Hotels.com as an option. Then we tried to enjoy drinks around 9 pm in the restaurant, but after waiting over 25 minutes and the waitress serving everyone, but us, we left. Granted the restaurant is small and this shouldn’t have been an issue. The breakfast the next morning, was quite tasty, but my husband specifically ordered me an omelet with no salmon and sure enough we received an omelet with salmon. Our romantic getaway was just not that and left us wishing we booked elsewhere.

Warning — Hotel did not honor ....
I wish I could provide a review of this hotel, but the hotel failed to honor a confirmed booking that I made online. Although the reservation was prepaid and confirmed, upon arrival (after more than two hours of driving) they informed my husband and I (with two young kids in tow) that they gave away our room to another bigger party. No advance notice was given and they placed us in dingy accommodations across the street next to a construction site. They offered us breakfast as “compensation”.
We were simply trapped as there was nowhere we could go being in a remote town with no ability to research alternate accommodations. I asked the staff for a refund but was erroneously told that they hadn’t been paid yet from Orbitz (which then informed me that the hotel had been prepaid). They still refuse to give me my money back. Beware that even if the hotel confirms your booking, they may still not honor it when you arrive and may place you in other accommodations.
