No-nonsense apartment but very....
Stayed 5 days/nights in Aparion History apartment, room 336. Located in historic center of Leipzig, nearby all sightseeing places and Central Station (Hauptbahnhof). No need to worry about the “History” room type, as the building may be medieval but the inside is completely renovated to the level any modern traveler assumes as a matter of course. It was end of December and with closed windows there was no audible street noise, but while in a lively part of the city it is unsure one is so lucky in summer season. Yet, it is a traffic free zone, so noise is limited to roller trunks and people talking.
The opening hours of the reception desk, 4 to 8 PM and only on working days, had me worried at first, having planned to arrive on 26th of December (St Stephens day). I e-mailed beforehand and got a reassuring answer. Upon arrival I had some trouble finding the reception, as the protected city view forbids house numbers. But a friendly reception desk lady took the time to direct me by phone to the correct place. From there on the check-in went smoothly. Though a complex building, a maze at first sight, the internal signing works very well.
I found my room to be better than the photos on the Booking.com website. It even contained a working desk, something not advertised on the website but very welcome for a business traveler like me. I was also glad to see a shower cabin, not needing to stand in the bathtub as seems common in Germany. The “Survival Guide” booklet in the apartment is very informative on hotel policies and contains tips to find shops, restaurants etcetera and even a hopefully unnecessary dentist, a useful headstart in a city you are not familiar with.
As per the advice in the booklet to ask questions or immediately report problems rather than complaining afterwards, I e-mailed some remarks I had, particularly about the WiFi network (WLAN) that worked more or less with my two smartphones but persistently refused my laptop. The e-mail correspondence worked very well, even outside working hours of the reception desk, so I can recommend this communication channel to everyone. I could solve the problems with my laptop very easily by using the also available fixed (Ethernet) LAN connection. Still, WiFi is an attention point for hotel management, as readily admitted in their reply, also mentioned in several reviews of other guests.
All in all, this Aparion apartment suited my purpose very well, being on a business trip and spending most of my time elsewhere. It was only needed to eat, sleep, update my diary and some inevitable e-mail correspondence. The kitchen contains everything to cook a meal (supermarket on the ground floor!), but not much more than that, along the same line is the minimalistic furniture yet intentional as explained in the hotel policy, and it is as it is by design. For me it worked very well.
LATE ADDITION: Aforementioned e-mail means of communication failed on the day I wanted to check-out, viz. 31st of December. Looks like an off-day for hotel staff, but a bit defeating the 24/7 presence they advertise when needed. My questions were not important enough to use the phone, so I’m not sure how that would have worked out. This may be a rare incident, given that particular date, but it somewhat retracts my earlier recommendation to use e-mail as a primary means of communication with Aparion staff.

Two thumbs up!
Amazing apartment hotel with an excellent location in the heart of Leipzig. The rooms we had were new, spacious, bright, comfortable and well-equipped. You can park your car on the same level (8) at the Oelßner's Hof parking garage. Everything in Leipzig city center is within a walking distance. The hallways of the hotel were quite a maze though. Anyway we can only recommend this place. Two thumbs up!
