Good service, good atmosphere,....
The staff were both friendly and helpful, and made up for the room's shortcomings. Breakfast was comprehensive and very good. The evening meals we had were both delicious and substantial, and served by a friendly face.
Room 114 was clearly original (1987), a bit basic & small, overshadowed by an old CRT tv with poor reception. The bathroom shower cabinet was also small and made washing of lower legs/feet difficult to impossible

Genuine German hotel
A lot of the reviews focus on the "basic" nature of the rooms, but this is a genuine German hotel where the emphasis is on efficiency - everything works and is clean. The restaurant is also very German - try the Fleischkäse with Spiegelei - this is the sort of dish you will eat in a typical German home. The only negative is the car parking hidden away at the rear and difficult to find - would have been useful if the hotel had highlighted this before arrival.

The rooms are a bit old fashioned but everything worked and was very clean. The bed was very comfortable and I slept really well. Breakfast was great, a good selection. The hotel is on a bus route into the city centre and the staff will gladly explain the timetables and bus stops to you.

Breakfast is outstanding
The rooms are not very special, but they are clean and spacious enough for 1 or two nights. The staff is friendly and very help full.
The breakfast is very good with a lot of different choices
(I travel a lot in Germany and Europe and this is one of the better places to have your breakfast).

A good basic hotel
We recently stayed at Hotel Scholz whilst touring the local area with our band. There were fifty-five in the group. The food was good. The room was fairly basic and would have benefitted from a refurbish. The staff were very friendly and worked hard. The one small lift sometimes caused a problem when we were all trying to reach our rooms at the same time after returning from a concert. My main criticism was that there was no flexibility with the timings of the availability of food. We returned a little late from a concert due to road diversions and the restaurant closed as we arrived back. Those band members who were first off the coach managed to get a table but those of us at back were told that the restaurant was closed. There were no restaurants near the hotel so many of our group had to go hungry. I would not stay there again.
