Contrasts of Hamburg
The hotel is located quite close to the center, but this particular area is rather poor, dirty and it’s definitely not the place where you will calmly walk around in the evening. A contrast to the nearby places and areas. There are many arabian and indian shops and cafes in here.
The hotel itself is clean, with small rooms, no tea/coffee making amenities, no fridge and minibar, greeting bottle of water costs 4€, the light is very poor and if you do not open window - it smells not very pleasant.
The breakfast is very tasty, the internet connection is good as well. The bed was comfortable for me and my aching back, but my boyfriend didn’t seem to like rather flat pillows (which were great for me).
Won’t consider the area if come back to Hamburg in future. As that is the main drawback.

Reasonable hotel and good valu....
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights during December whilst visiting the Christmas markets. It is located about an 8 minute walk from the central train station which is good for transport to the airport as well as underground and regional train links.
The hotel itself is good value for money and very clean. Although we booked a double room and found it was two single beds pushed together with two single duvets. Not the worst problem in the world but worth a mention. The bathroom was very clean with basic toiletries provided and good water pressure in the shower. Upon check in the staff were a little disinterested and we had to push for a map of the city and to explain where we were, local sites etc.. overall quite unfriendly.
Having said this, the hotel is in a good location and I wouldn't believe all of the negative reviews on here. We didn't see any unsavoury characters whilst walking back at night. The staff weren't particularly helpful but I would probably stay here again anyway for the cheap rates and clean, comfortable room.

Average rooms, bad service
Spent Easter long weekend in Hamburg. It’s a lovely town, although the area the hotel was in felt a bit rough.
The rooms were of average size and relatively clean. The room smelled and the sheets and towels seemed to have been laundered with something that left dark fluff.
The breakfast was good, service good there.
WiFi worked well.
Reception staff were however not engaged. They didn’t seem to want to be there and their service left much to desire.
I asked for the key to the safe, which required a deposit. We exchanged keys and money and I asked if there was nothing more we needed to do and was told no. When we were leaving the hotel half an hour later, I was stopped by the receptionist to sign a deposit slip.
We asked for a wine opener, to which we were told no, even though they have a bar at the reception.
On Saturday night we came back to the hotel at around midnight. The hotel was locked and no reception in sight. A few minutes later he showed up and we knocked on the door. He waived at us to wait. We knocked again and he came up to the door, pointed at a sign on the door (which was in German) and then left to finish removing some boxes from the elevator before letting us in.
I won’t be staying there again.
