Stayed for 3 nights in May, hotel is centrally located right on the historic square it was our anniversary and were upgraded to a room with balcony and some treats on arrival to the room. Check in was smooth. Rooms were well appointed slightly on the small side to some I am used to but didn’t effect our stay, balcony overlooking the square was delightful. We didn’t eat in the hotel but did enjoy a drink in the restaurant terrace. Overall wonderful stay in a fantastic city!

Central luxury boutique hotel,....
I had the pleasure of staying at The Sofitel Gendarmenmarkt for two nights in December last year. I had booked this hotel as a personal gift to myself for celebrating my PhD defense.
The hotel I located on the Gendarmenmarkt and was optimal placed for visiting the Gendarmenmarkt Christmas marked.
At check in there was no recognition of Accor gold, and I had to explicitly ask to get the drink voucher, which turned out to be valid only for either a small beer or a small glass of their cheapest wine. Neither could or would they give me and upgrade.
The standard double room I was given was on the highest floor and had a small balcony. The room was small (aprox 20 sqm), but effectively designed. The bathroom was again small but seemed quite new and had a rain shower, but no tube. The bed was of classic Sofitel quality, bathrooms amenities was Lanvin (which I believe is the standard for the basic rooms at some Sofitel hotels) instead of Hermes.
I had opted for breakfast, which was nice fair, but not exceptional, If I had the choice again I would probably save the 30E and eat better outside. The breakfast had a small egg station, where you could order omelet and eggs benedict. The rest of the buffet was with limited selections but all of high quality, except for the German sparkling wine who was not good, nor replenished when empty.
I also tried their in-house restaurant (seperatly reviewed), which I do recommend.
All in all I’m uncertain if I would stay here again, the location and high quality of the bed is pro, but the lack of member recognition, small rooms and expensive breakfast is cons. I will give this hotel a 4 minus.

Luxury hotel in a pleasant par....
A lovely stay of 6 days. The hotel is conveniently situated quite near to U bahn stations and across the road from a large but pleasant square - Gandarmenmarkt -with outside cafes and bars. The service in the hotel was impeccable - friendly and efficient, and the breakfasts were superb.
Nearby are is a range of restaurants serving traditional german fare.
We will definately be back, not just to Berlin but also to this hotel.

This was our second visit to this Hotel. Reception efficient and friendly. Room clean and comfortable, although rather cosy when you have 2 large suitcases. If you require extra space would recommend paying extra for a suite. The restaurant serves delicious food. Would recommend.

Could be a better and improves....
The hotel is located in the center of Berlin.
The rooms look good but quite small.
There is Hermes brand in all the rooms although the hotel publishes it.
The room we got at the check-in was not clean, see we had to change.. it is not a good start.
Cleaning - in generally cleaned not so well.
Breakfast is with no diversity and variety of products. When we asked to cancel it, they refused to refund us.
