Okay for a short stay, very go....
We had a good experience with the hotel but we stayed there for only one night. The breakfast was a normal continental selection; the room was clean (both beds/linen/toilet) but it was very basic - unfortunatelly no kettle. There was no smell of smoke as other reviewers claim. We had a room right next to the reception but there was a double door and it was quiet. We couldn't hear the cars from a busy street next to the building, but we could hear muffled music from the Spanish bar under the hotel. Wi-fi was good.
The staff was very friendly!
The hotel is a great location for those arriving by bus to ZOB. There is public transport to the city centre very close by and a good Chinese restaurant.
It's a good choice if you want something cheap in good location and if you don't expect much.

Worse hotel / hostel on planet
This has to be one of the worse hotel /hostel experience of my life. If The smell of unwashed grimy and cigarettes wasn’t bad enough the furniture and beds were from a junk shop. Poorly maintained, stained curtains with god only knows what. I spent two nights here and slept fully clothed as it did not reach my expectations of cleanliness. If the price reflected on the hostel/ hotel it would have given me some idea of what to expect however the price was not cheap and on par with other hotels in the area that had a much higher standard that I would have been happy to stay at but unfortunately all booked up. This fact aided this hostel to cash in. The breakfast was poor and only thing edible were the soft boiled eggs left in a bowl covered by a cloth. Too horrible to continue to describe. Stay away from here it was like a journey back into the 70s and probably the last time these carpets were even cleaned!!! Awful!!!!

Very sad experience
To stay overnight in af family room, with very low clean lines, toilet and shower in two sepprate rooms in the narrow isles of the hotel, and just as low maintenance, should be very is hard to find in 2017. never the less is what we experienced, though the price was just as high as surrounding hotels. We survived despite one night, as a once i a lifetime stay.

Stayed here for 3 nights, room was an ok size, beds and pillows really not comfy and our bathroom was so small you couldn't even stand in there without having the door open, the free breakfast was ok, not much choice best bit about the hotel is it's very close to the station and there's a great Chinese place across the road and a nice kebab shop outside.

Pay the extra & book somewhere....
We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights having booked it online due to a special offer. Without wanting to be really negative, I have to be truthful.
So I'll start with the positives:
1. The location is right beside the Messe Nord S-Bahn station and the Kaiserdamm U-Bahn station which is brilliant from a tourist point of view.
2. The rooms are cleaned every day, and I mean cleaned.
3. There is plenty of choice for breakfast, anyone who couldn't find something to suit I'd say are just hard to please. It's a continental breakfast, bread, a selection of hams, cheeses, a choice of cereals, eggs, yoghurt etc.
4. The Kebab cafe and the Spanish Tapas bar underneath the hotel are both good.
And unfortunately that's where my positives stop.
So for the negatives:
1. The bathroom is horrendous and one of the worst I have ever seen in any hotel. In fact I couldn't call it a "room" as its a small cupboard containing a toilet, sink & shower built inside the bedroom. It took a bit of negotiating to get in & out of the shower. You cannot get dried in the cupboard you have to come out into the room. To use the toilet you have to reverse in & drive out. If you drive in you can't turn round to get the door closed. When you close the door, it's half an inch from your face. The wardrobe in the bedroom was of a similar size.
And don't use the extra towel placed over the edge of the shower enclosure, without checking it for unidentified bugs which seem to come from the drain of the shower even with the plug in it.
Yes there is ventilation in the cupboard. It ventilates back out into the bedroom!
2. The room was cleaned & the sheets were changed. Unfortunately one of the sheets contained blobs of paint. Honestly!
3. There is a continuous smell of cigarette smoke, even in non smoking rooms.
What staff I did have any dealings with were polite and nice, but I didn't have a lot of dealings with them.
This isn't the Hilton but it's not Hilton prices either. If you can cope with the negatives it's fine. Unfortunately we struggled, especially with the cupboard size bathroom. We had booked a double but got a huge family room which made the cupboard with the loo a complete farce given the dimensions of the rest of the room!
By the 3rd night I'd had my fill but unfortunately Berlin was booked out.
