Great for familes
Our family of five stayed in one room which was an OK size for us. Breakfast is great value-only adults pay. Hostel/hotel vibe meant nice mix of people. Pool table and table football too like other Meininger hotels. Hotel is right at the underground station so fab for doing the sights too, two stops to Alexanderplatz. Rooms would benefit from aircon I think but OK in April when we stayed. Lots of nice restaurants/cafes/bars in streets around Kollwitzstrasse which was nice and not too rowdy. Reception staff very helpful indeed.

Guns n Roses trip
This hotel ticked all the boxes for our trip. Central, good value, clean & tidy, friendly staff and modern. Only issue was lack of air conditioning which was an issue in the hot Berlin evenings! Beware when booking that there is no a/c.

Uncomfortable NO A/C
No Air Conditioning makes the hot nights very unbearable. Service was fine. They were able to sell me stamps for post cards. We were able to check in early. Did not have food but you must pay extra for breakfast

Did The Job
We were a large group on a stag do and stayed at Meininger Hotel in Alexanderplatz. I was in a 6 person room with 3 bunk beds, there are other sized rooms available. The hotel was very clean and secure. Check in was smooth, and as we arrived early we left our bags.
The hotel is about a 20 minute walk down to the river, however there is a underground train station right outside for access.
Overall it was an ideal base for us as well as being very cost affective.

Great facilities for a family
As a family of six we often struggle to get decent accommodation but we lucked out here. We shared a 6 bed room for 5 nights, and survived!
The location is excellent, right on the U bhan network with a stop right outside. There is a organic supermarket next door and a normal one 3 mins walk away (where you can also recycle your plastic and glass bottles.
The room though not mega spacious was at the end of a hall, so quiet with no passing traffic. There was no air con that we could see so had the window open most nights and not much road noise as we were to the back of the building.
We had breakfast the first morning as the kids all ate free but they werent too keen on what was on offer, so we ate elsewhere after that.
They all felt safe playing table football and pool at night, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.
The beers and drinks from the vending machines were very dear and could be bought much cheaper from the shops and supermarkets nearby.
The communal area was shut one evening for redecoration which as a shame.
The wifi was patchy but generally held up, and each bunk had a power socket light AND USB port (we only spotted that after 2 nights!)
All in all a really good experience for us.
