very good hotel considering it....

we spent two nights in this hotel and it was lovely. Considering it is an avarage hotel, I must say it was behiond my expectations. I read online reviews before going and I was very skeptical but since we were going with a group there was nothing I could say. in the end I am very happy we went. The location is beautiful and the structure of the hotel is impressive. For family, this place is perfect: there's a lovely play room which offers many activities to the kids, huge eating areas, amazing playground on the back, little lake in the garden....whatelse can a family ask for? The staff was very kind and helpful. Rooms are poorly decorated but they offer anything you need and they are very clean. i am usually very picky, but this time I have nothing to complain about.

Tolle Natur, tolles Hotel aber....

I went there with my wife and litte daugther to have a long weekend. The room was old fashioned but ok. Bath was OK but It could better in some place the mold was gaining terrain. The real notable issue was the spider's web growing everywhere. The front of the haus was sinking in a spider's web (better it was a carpet). The breakfast was really great. You could get everything that you usually could have for the breakfast. Only you need to check the stack of dishes carefully. Most of them are not realy free from rest coming from ancient dinners. The indoor place for the kids was big enough and with a good dotation of games and play stuff. Unfortunatelly without maintenance and with no tidiness. Floor and walls are needing urgent a wet cloth and a vacum cleaner. After it a deep desinfection. Ugly! The food in the restaurant was good and the wellness area was clean and as promised in the web page. You can rent a bike from a big bike pool. For a short trip in the surroundigs good enough. Some of the employees were very unfrendly but seems a disease in the region. Fast food and Gas stations are not the best place there to meet good service. The surroundings are realy quiet an nice inviting to rest and recover. I was very upsated because the hotel has everything to be a nice place to visit again but the lack and cleaness turn you stay there in a almost bad experience. A pity! Ah you can almost forget your cell phone. The network there is very poor but you have a realy excelent wifi connection every where and for free. Realy good!

Stay here only if you have not....

We stayed in this hotel 1 night to attend a friends wedding. We were sort of forced to stay here as most hotels in the region were fully booked. We had a standard room at 55€/night. The hotel is only reachable by car it seems. Does however has more than enough parking space. Check-in was friendly. The hotel seems to be grouped in several buildings. So we had to leave the main building again and then walk over to the building our room was in. Strange but okay... moving on. The rooms was of standard size, at first sight fairly clean yet not at second. It did feature two queen size beds and had the atmosphere of a long gone post war German chic. Main problem about the room was the bathroom! Indeed: the radiator was installed in front of the toiled: it was impossible to sit properly on the toilet! You had to sit on it sideways to fit your legs somewhere. Horrible and quiet unacceptable! Sleep quality was okay. The hotel does advertise itself as 4* - it really is more 2-3*. While the cheap fares would make up for most of this hotel's problems, it does not excuse the unusable toilet! I would only stay at this hotel again if like in my case I had no choice and would recommend this hotel for traveller in a similar situation. +sleep quality +price - everything else

Lots of flies at the buffet

We stayed one night at Liebenwalde from the 5. of july 2011 to 6. of july on our way from Austria back to Denmark. The room was okay and fairly priced. But the restaurant, who looked very nice, was a really bad experience, and the problem is that you will have to drive quite a bit to get to another restaurant. We had had enough driving for that day, and we just wanted a nice meal. We were told that the restaurant only served buffet that nigth, so we had to take that. But there was so many flies at the buffet and in the food, - and the big fat black ones! that we lost our appetite. Only the soup was free for flies, so we had that. The buffet wasn´t being refilled, so when our five year old son wanted dessert, there was only tiny bits left - with flies... We ended up getting chocolate from the automat for him. We asked the waiter, if they couldn´t do anything about the flies, but she said no. We ordered a bottle of white wine, one of the better ones at the menu, and it was really nice. But when we wanted to have tap water next to the wine, we were told by the waiter, that the water wasn´t drinkable. I asked, why they haven´t put a notice in the our room, so that we were warned, and then she told us, that water was drinkable, but that her chef didn´t wanted them to serve it, because it was free, and they wanted to make money on bottle water... We left the restaurant, still hungry, and with a really bad feeling. Hadn´t booked breakfast, when we ordered the room, and absolutely didn´t wanted too after the dinner. But they had put the breakfast on our bill, when we checked out next morning. Then we told the story about the flies to the nice lady in the reception, and she replied "oh yeah, I saw a lot of flies at the breakfast too...". It is such a shame - it could be a really nice place, but the restaurant was way way too lousy for a four star hotel. It reminded me of some the bad restaurants I have been too in Cuba, or Eastern Europe, rigth after the Wall came down. Where nobody cared. Kind regards Christina Kabel, journalist, Denmark

Be careful

This hotel is advertized as a 4-star hotel and it has the potential to be a 4-star hotel but it is operated as a 2 star hotel. The quality of the staff is mixed - all were able to handle simple, common tasks (e.g., mail postcards) but none were able to fix problems efficiently. The staff's typical response when told about a problem was to stare back at me with a blank face.... Most staff speak only German. None seemed comfortable speaking English. The food was mediocre. The rolls served at breakfast were not fresh bakery rolls - they were either day-old rolls or packaged rolls from a supermarket. The quality of the cold cuts at breakfast was not the highest. Vegetables and fruit served were often not ripe or over ripe. The dinners provided as part of the half board package were not as advertized. We only recieved the promised 3 course dinner one night. This dinner was ok. The other nights were buffets consisting of left overs, burnt meat, etc. The hot food was cold because no one lit the sterno candles. I could say more but perhaps you get the idea. On the plus side the room rate we got was a good value. It was clean (although we found that we needed to be out of the room when they wanted to clean it or it would not be cleaned.) The hotel is not convenient to public transportation.
