Ok But a bit far away
Nice place to have rest with nice rooms but the breakfast is very simple and once finish some things they don't replace it. Another thing that I didn't like is that at the reception just one person spoke english and all the rest just german or russian.

Excellent place - even better....
The occasion: a birthday celebration! Some more than 50 guests had a superb dinner - the hotel obviously has an excellent cook! Service too was irreproachable- they served food and wine to perfection, and should be congratulated for that. Everybody had a great time!!
Many guests stayed overnight - it was snowing, icy, windy etc. Nice large rooms with balcony. Unfortunately the heating system in the bedrooms left much to be desired - the radiators were only luke warm and everyone was complaining in the morning. Extra bed covers were provided but they only helped a little.
Conclusion: highly recommended hotel but check about the efficiency of the heating system if you go there in winter.

We really treasured our stay in this hotel. The staff were friendly, rooms big, breakfast delicious, and we had our evening meal there too which was tasty and good value.
The location is great as we wanted to be 10 mins drive from Baden-Baden and next to the forest for our walks.

Such a nice place, such a poor....
When we arrived my wife and I, our first impression was : Ouah ! Such a nice typical German chalet both close to Baden and at the heart of a lovely forest. We're gonna spend a nice and confortable moment and maybe come back with our daugther...except that we hardly managed to sleep! Despite the general comfort of the room (excellent bedding and bathroom), we heard ALL NIGHT LONG the conversations of of neighbors, not to mention their sexual activity that awoke us many times, even with our earplugs! It's really a shame give the great amability of the staff and the quality of breakfast. But when I book somewhere, the first thing I want is basically sleeping. Therefore, the one and only message I would send to the owners : the next time you renovate a traditional wooden structure such as yours, please do consider the soundproofing as a priority to your guests. Otherwise, it ruins the whole experience !

Superb visit at Christmas time
Stayed here 5 nights over Christmas 2017. A quiet location a few miles from Baden Baden itself just a 10 minute drive away.
Greeted by Mr Vetter he upgraded us to a nice room with a view over the grounds and surrounding hills of the Black Forest.
On entry to the hotel it was just as expected, some Black Forrest carvings as lighting features, rich red carpets all that was missing was a foot of snow. A special exhibition of vintage musical boxes were a delightful surprise which Mr Vetter and other staff were happy to operate for you to hear the music.
Rooms were spacious and clean, pillows slightly different to Uk type but acceptable. Good wardrobe space for winter clothing and spacey bathroom and toilet.
The restaurant was again typically German and decorated with more carved light fittings flowers Christmas tree and the inevitable cuckoo clock. Good food reasonably priced served at a leisurely pace, not too long await but this appears to be a German tradition to allow you to enjoy each course rather than the big rush you may be used to. The bar area is small but relaxing and a selection of Mr Vetters books and magazines for his passion for classic cars are available for you to read.
In the summer the outside grounds would be a pleasure to relax in or wander the paths into the forest. Too cold in December though.
Excellent English spoken though the waiter describing the deer meat on the menu described it as Bambi. Not a problem for me but some people may be sensitive to that haha.
A pleasant few days, an excellent base to explore the area I would definitely stay here again.
