Lovely stay for daughter's bir....
The staff were very helpful with my several queries before arriving/booking which was a good start. We were upgraded on arrival and there was a small present waiting for my daughter for her birthday which was a nice touch. The room was clean, nicely presented, not luxurious but had everything you could need including kettle and tea making facilities which a lot of hotels do not provide and four small bottles of water for starters in the fridge. We were aware of some noise from other rooms but not so that it was a problem. There was no real storage place for non-hanging items but we just kept them in our suitcase. The safe is a very strange affair where you have to ask for a lock to put in the hole in the door !! We jus tlocked our suitcases instead ! Breakfast was very nice, pretty much something for everybody and the room never seemed over full (maybe not high season ?). The bar was very nice, one evening it was warm enough to have drinks outside. The "Happy Hour" is actually 30% but very helpful anyway. The location is good, we were able to walk down to the port/beach very easily, took a bus to Monte Carlo and walked to the station to take the train to Grasse but, unfortunately there was some problem and it terminated at Cannes - so we spent a very nice day wandering around Cannes instead. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a reasonably priced hotel with good breakfasts and well located with nice staff.

Good quality hotel with charm ....
A good sized hotel that has loads of character and charm. The reception area, bar and lounge plus breakfast room all have a stylish but cosy feel but offer enough space to cope with the guests. Weather permitting you can also breakfast or have a drink in the courtyard.
Breakfast had the usual cold selections you expect plus hot items of scrambled eggs, bacon or sausages and fried potatoes. You could order fried, soft boiled and omelettes for an extra cost. I always enjoyed what was offered and felt setup for the day.
The classic room I had was enough for me but perhaps some might find it a bit small and might need to select one of the hotel’s bigger rooms. The room was well specified however. The safe did not have any lock on it though which was odd. A friend staying said his was the same. The bed was comfortable and I got some good sleep.
Staff were fantastic and spoke very good English and were always so polite and helpful. Sometimes there did not seem to be enough staff on and the bar service could be a bit slow, especially at happy hour but not end of the world.
The hotel is very well located being 10 minutes or so from the main square and 15-20 from the old town bars, restaurants and sea front. We used the train a few times and the station was an easy 15 minute walk.
All in all a great hotel not too big and not too small and very well maintained and staffed.

Trip for Wifes 40th
Took my wife to Nice for her 40th last month. Checked in 12/04/18 for three nights.
It was absolutely bucketing down and we were soaked by the time we got to the hotel.
Check in by Barbara (Streisand) was super quick. Lovely lady, friendly, polite, helpful and efficient which is all you ask for from staff when staying at a hotel. Lifts weren't working when we got there due to the unusually, they offered to take our luggage up to our rooms but as we only had hand luggage we took it ourselves. they were working again by the time we left
Stayed in room 330 Room was clean and had TV, kettle for tea/coffee, mini fridge stocked with four water bottles, two of them sparkling.
Beds were comfy but two singles pushed together. Very traditional decor which i love. Loved the room.
The bar which is next to the reception is clean, reasonably priced. Great place to chill out before going out in the evening, Charlie, the Justin Timberlake look alike working behind the bar was great and was happy to talk. Nice guy.
Hotel is a great location to visit the Promenade, Nice Ville train station, to go to the Old Town, hit the shops and to catch the tram to the bus station as we did for our day trip to Eze
Had a shower leak on our last evening and Barbara moved us to room 321/322 which was a huge modern, luxurious suite. with a balcony. She was extremely apologetic but these can happen. C'est la vie as they say.
Breakfast was filling and tasted great. Buffet style with options of continental, cereal, breads, tea coffee and along with an option of eggs, sausages etc
Would highly recommend the hotel, Staff a fantastic and the location great. Thank you to you all for making my wifes 40th a memorable one. We had an amazing stay.

A lovely Hotel In Nice
The hotel's lobby is very tiny but the staffs are really friendly. I love its lovely patio and its elegant breakfast room. Breakfast is simple but as long as there're fresh fruits, breads, pastries, egg, cheese, tea & coffee and there's even porridge ... well those are enough.
I love the room: spacious, clean and classic.Free wifi and speedy. Great location, only 5 minutes walk to Place Massena.

Have just returned from 4 nights stay at the Hotel Ellington, with my wife. Upon reaching the reception, we were greeted well, and were advised we had been upgraded.
Prior to booking the hotel, we asked to be housed in the main hotel - they have a few rooms in the courtyard which were accessed via a spiral staircase - hence not really suitable to elderly or infirm guests. The room was quite acceptable, without being fabulous. Very clean and tidy, the beds were made daily. We had pre-booked the breakfast - which is a cheaper option, 10 euro's instead 18.The breakfast has a selection of fruits, ham, cheese, pastries etc, plus warm food scrambled eggs, sliced fried potato and either bacon or sausage, and as much tea and coffee's as you would like. All in all a very reasonable hotel, reasonable price, and a decent location. ONE downside was they say they have free wifi, but I questioned that I could not get onto the net, reception said it was not very good, also depending when you may go, the heating/cooling system does not allow for unusual weather conditions, it's either in winter mode or Summer mode.
