Good location, helpful staff
The first thing to say is that the location is good, set back one block from the promenade in a quiet corner of the Albert gardens. Many buses stop at or near the hotel, in particular the 98 airport service, and the tram serving the railway station is a few minutes walk.
Our room was labelled 'Comfort' and that describes it well. Not much of a view from the windows, but sea views in Nice always come with a price tag. Clean and modern, not much space in the bedroom, but compensated by a relatively spacious bathroom with corner bath/shower. No tea/coffee facilities within room. Comfortable and large double bed.
Reception staff all spoke good English, gave good advice on travel and places to visit. In particular they gave good advice on personal security - we were targeted four times in six days on or near buses and trams, and particularly near the airport, but we frustrated their attempts.
We chose a rate with breakfast included. This was the usual 'continental' buffet with plates of ham, cheese, salami, cereals, fruit salad. Enough for a substantial breakfast, but no hot food other than stand-and-wait toast. Some would say get a breakfast at the many nearby cafes, but they're pricey (15-20 euros for anything substantial) and not so convenient if you want to make an early start for excursions.
Secure storage room for luggage if you arrive early or leave late.
The staff make this hotel a comfortable and welcoming place for tourists.

After having our Easyjet flight home cancelled last month, we were placed in the Ambassador for a further two nights. I would like to say, that during a very stressful time trying to get back to the UK, the hotel staff were so understanding, helpful and friendly, particularly Norbert at the front desk. He went out of his way to help us, along with other staff, including the cleaning staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We had already had our holiday in another hotel in Nice, but this hotel is very well situated for all amenities and if we were to visit again I would stay at the Ambassador Hotel for many reasons but most importantly, the wonderful staff!

Breakfast poor value
This is a nice, clean hotel, if a little old fashioned, in a great location. BUT - the breakfast buffet, for which they charge EUR12 per person, is bizarre! We have travelled everywhere in the world, and this is the first time we have seen this very sparse offering presented on the buffet with everything covered in CLINGFILM! Be warned, there is no hot food (other than toast which you make yourself if you can get the clingfilm off the plate of sliced bread). There are numerous places a few steps away from the hotel where you can buy a full English breakfast for the same or less, so our advice is to do
just that. To add insult to injury, the hotel concierge made us pay for our breakfasts again, even though our paperwork clearly said that breakfast was included in the room rate. There was no effort to make sure we, the customers, went away with a good impression of the hotel. Shame. We will not use this hotel again.

Excellent personal service
My wife and I were in Nice for the first time, and were lucky enough to choose the Ambassador. I say that because the helpfulness of the staff made all the difference in making our stay in a new place very comfortable. When we checked in, we asked if the room faced the front or the back. The front desk agent, Norbert, told us that it was a rear facing room, but that he had another room for the same price that had a (side) view of the sea. He gave us the keys to both rooms for us to decide. After looking, we chose the side room with a partial view of the sea. During our 6 day stay we got to know another front desk agent, Paulo. Each of them was very willing to help with directions and suggestions that both allowed us to see all the the places that interested us the most, and to get there quickly and cheaply by bus or tram. Our impression of Norbert was that he has all the qualities of a great concierge, and that Paulo is a refined soft spoken and patient gentleman. We always felt comfortable speaking to them, and asking for advice.
The hotel itself is in prime location. We easily walked to the Old City (don't miss the Monday Antique Market that sets up in the area of the Flower Market), and to many other places for restaurants and shops. The building, not modern, is typically French looking with windows that open! It has been renovated, is clean, is one block from the promenade, and has a park right outside. We had a terrific stay, and would go back again.

5 sunny days in France
The hotel's location is great. Near to the seaside and to Old town. It was easy to go to the hotel from airport with bus 98. The room was nice and clean (daily cleaning). I could see the sea from my room. It was beautiful. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is good. Staff is very friendly and helpful and they are speaking lots of different language. It was especially good, that I could speak on my own language (Hungarian) with one of the reception guys. He is very nice and always smiling :) I can offer this hotel for everybody.
Nice also great as starting point to visit Cannes, Antibes and Monaco.
A szálloda elhelyezkedése nagyszer?. Közel a tengerparthoz és az óvároshoz. Könny? volt eljutni a hotelig a repül?térr?l a 98-as busszal. A szoba szép és tiszta volt. (naponta takarították). A szobából kilátás nyílt a tengerre, ami gyönyör? volt. Az ágy nagyon kényelmes volt. A reggeli jó.
