Perfect spot for a quick respi....
We stayed here in order to be close to some other friends who were arriving in the middle of the night from the train station nearby, so I wasn't expecting the best accommodations but was surprised to find the hotel clean and bright and very well supplied with everything we needed. The room was a large corner room on the 3rd floor and had a ton of sunlight - along with black-out drapes which were really useful. It's a modern hotel so the bathroom was large by any standard, especially French standards, and had a beautiful rainshower in addition to a hand-held nozzle. There's a large sitting area on the ground floor with tables/chairs and sofas, so plenty of room to talk with people and enjoy a drink. We didn't eat here, but there is a well-stocked convenience area by the reception desk for grab-and-go snacks and drinks. I've never stayed in the Mercure chain before, but was pleasantly surprised and will consider them again in other places.

Perfect location for Train Sta....
I had an early morning train out of Nantes, this hotel was perfect. Good service, great breakfast and literally at the train stations doorstep. Plenty of small quiet areas to hide away and do some work. 10-15mins walk to Nantes centre

Below Mercure standards, bewar....
This was a big comedown from my last very pleasant Mercure stay. The room was tired and cramped. The shower/washbasin area is enclosed in plate glass with a door and a net curtain across the front.
Challenge 1: finding the door behind the swathes of net curtain Challenge 2: not walking into the plate glass on your way in or out of this area. The glass does not have any pattern on at eye level (as is usual for glass that people are liable to walk into) and the edge where it meets the door is quite sharp. I can well imagine somebody getting up in the middle of the night for a glass of water, or somebody coming in after a few drinks, getting a nasty injury on some part or other of this fitting, in fact I'd be amazed if it hasn't happened already.
The hotel is also hard to find on a dark night if approached from the street.

Location, comfort and staff
Travelling to Nantes airport in the evening and catching a train from Nantes station the next morning, I opted for Mercure Nantes Centre Gare, which turned out to be the perfect choice ; the airport shuttle drops you on the doorstep and the railway station is next door.
Comfortable rooms, nice lobby, varied and tasty breakfast buffet, and, most of all, friendly and efficient staff, Mercure Nantes Centre Gare has it all ! By the way, thanks to excellent acoustic insulation, you can't tell the railway station is just a few steps away. And, the city centre being at walking distance, I will stay here again, next time I come to Nantes for the weekend !

Perfect for location, service ....
First of all a warning. Do not use online check-in unless you want to have a substantial amount of money tied up until you check out.
All the rest is good. My friend and I travelled by train and the hotel is literally round the corner from the station and only a few minutes walk into the city. We were warmly welcomed by reception staff who were unfailingly helpful. The room was first class and sound-proofed so we slept well. The beds are excellent and the bathroom was perfect. Kettle, tea, coffee and biscuits provided and the Wi-Fi was good. Looking forward to staying again. Nantes is a beautiful and friendly city with a wealth of attractions, especially the Ile des Machines with the magnificent world-famous Grand Elephant and carousel.
