Room had no heat!

I checked into this hotel with my 5 year old Son on a Saturday afternoon for one night. We spend the day enjoying the city but we came back t room it was extremely cold in the room. I turned on the heat but the heater only blew cold air. I contact the front desk who told me to come down. When I arrived at the front desk I was told that they could only offer me a radiator/space heater. I ask if it was the type of heater that was not hot to the touch because I had my 5 year old with me. The lady told me I should put the heater away from my child and that the hotel was fully booked and there were no other options. I explained to her that the hotel room was too cold to sleep in without heat and that unit that could burn my child was not an option for me. She said there was nothing she could do. I ask if I could speak with a manager and was told there was no manager on duty. I ask her to then call her manager and explain the situation and ask I could either have a refund or a credit because the room was too cold to sleep in and I would have to go to another hotel. She again said that no manger was available. I told her that I was sure that the hotel manager had a phone number at home and that she should call them. After waiting in the lobby 20 minutes she comes back and said she called her manager and the manager said that since I paid in advance (hotels.com) that I could have to get my money from them. Such Crap! I immediately pulled out my phone and called hotels.com who then attempted to reach the hotel. They came back and said they could not reach anyone but would continue to try. Several emails later hotels.com says that the manager refused to refund my money because the room was used for more than 7 hours. We never got to sleep in the room! DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL! Any hotel that takes your money and offers no heat is a SCAM! It is not the customers fault that the hotels heating system is broken. That is the hotels issues and they should have said something when I checked in. On a good note. Hotels.com refunded my money as goodwill gesture! Thanks hotels.com for taking care of this issue. NEVER BOOK at Mercure Lille Centre Grand Place!

Comfortable hotel in a great c....

Great location close to the beautiful old town and only 10minutes walk from the Eurostar terminal. We were able to walk all around the city from the hotel and it has a great selection of bars and restaurants nearby. My room was small, but clean & comfortable. The room has tea & coffee facilities, a fridge, safe, hairdryer & plenty of sockets. The shower room was small but OK with both an overhead and hand held shower head. Whilst body wash is wall mounted in the shower, there is no selection of toiletries or shower cap provided. We didn’t eat at the hotel so I can’t comment on breakfast. Staff were friendly and efficient and we were able to leave our cases at the hotel on the last day and collect them later, which was helpful. Would happily stay here again.

Good location

Just behind the opera house, the hotel is located perfectly convenient to access the beautiful grand place and the shopping boutiques. Lille is a very beautiful town no doubt, but I enjoyed my stay thanks to the super helpful hotel staff who made my stay memorable.

Great Place

Had a great stay here, location is superb, 10 min walk from Eurostar station, it’s behind the Opera House so it’s very central . The room was clean, well presented and very quiet. Overall impressions were very positive indeed. Breakfast was good, self service, helpful and attentive staff, very polite. We met the Director of public relations for the hotel who introduced himself whilst we were outside smoking and he was very nice asking if we were enjoying our stay. My thanks go to all the staff who we found very polite and attentive. My special thanks goes to a Laurie who returned my passports after we had checked out but left our baggage for safe keeping until we departed for our train back, very grateful.

Flawless hotel in top location

a 10-minute walk from the railway station and the airport shuttle, Mercure Lille Centre Grand Place is at the same time very close to Vieux-Lille. Comfy rooms, smiling and helpful staff and a varied breakfast buffet make it an obvious choice for a professional stay or a leisure weekend.
