Wow!!! Had a GREAT time!
So much to do here!!! We spent an afternoon here doing all sorts of outdoor activities such as riding the chair lift, doing the fabulous tree top hike, and several other activities. It was a great summer outdoors activities day! Most of these require fees, but they are not high.

Very good holiday house in qui....
I spent 4 nights in the largest property they have (Villa 13) very large villa with nice views towards the lake.
The area was very quite with couple of recreational facilities near by (treetop walk & bobsleigh track) in a walking distance. Coop supermarket is also nearby
Although the owner charge fir an expensive cleaning fees, you still need to bring your toiletries with you including showers gels, towels and dish soap
Additionally, there is no washing machine in the villa, instead you need to do your laundry paid next to the reception which is a negative.
The kitchen is equipped with all what you need for preparing a meal in house

Modern but quirky Lipno Dream ....
In April, 2015, we booked a lovely, spacious Chalet in Lipno for the whole family of 8 adults over Easter, booking from Wednesday to Wednesday, which suited us fine – most places only allow Saturday bookings. But Easter is a funny time, as it falls between the winter ski season and the summer holiday period. So the whole area of Southern Bohemia was remarkably quiet and various attractions were closed. The Chalet was beautifully designed, well appointed and looked lovely in its woodland setting . The Reception down the hill was staffed by a friendly, English-speaking receptionist, and stayed open late to welcome us, we were a bit delayed even tho’ well described, the place was rather hard to find – due to the sudden appearance of heavy snow. However the estate roads were cleared of snow and the main roads were all passable.
Our house was spacious, woody and beautifully appointed and the under-floor heating gave that touch of luxury. From the balcony and verandah we had lovely views across the lake and the woodland beyond, especially when the countryside was covered with snow. The 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms were well quite sufficient for the whole family. The door locking system was secure and the garage was fine for one car – and there’s plenty of parking space along the access road near the wood. . You can buy wood for the wood burning stove too. The WiFi worked well and the radio/music centre and DVD player were useful, as were the heated towel dryers. The Satellite TV was pathetically limited to a few Czech stations, some rather peculiar Dutch TV shows (the owners were Dutch, apparently) and a rich variety of on-line German pornographic sex programmes, none of which appealed to (or were appropriate for) our family. The Satellite Tuner resolutely refused to yield other options, so there were no English language channels for news or other programmes.
In and around Lipno itself we soon found that some of the facilities and attractions had been kept open - the toboggan trail, tree top walk, in-door swimming pool, a few shops, some nice restaurants and bars. The cycle path along the lake shore was a great route for nice walks. We visited a local monastery, nearby castles and a beautifully laid out Post Museum (with translations into English on many exhibits). Our young people loved these.
However much we enjoyed the luxury it was all a little quirky at Lipno Dreams. For example, you couldn’t wash your hands as there was absolutely no soap – so we found that our small give-away soap from a hotel in Prague was simply not enough for 3 bathrooms and a kitchen sink. Luckily we were able to find all we needed at the nearby Co-op shop next day. The kitchen/sitting room had a useful refrigerator – alas with no freezer compartment, so we used the garage for our drinks instead. However, frozen food and ice-cream had to be consumed on the spot – a popular decision with the youngsters.
On the first morning Reception provided us with a bottle of hand wash liquid. The dishwasher was impressive – but alas we could not use it, as there were no dishwasher tablets; hand-washing the dishes was difficult without washing-up liquid, nor were there any tea towels available, or a rack for drying. We found dish-washer tablets in the local Co-op and improvised the towels. So altogether this was a strange situation for our large family over the first couple of days. On the positive side, there was a good range of dishes, plates, glasses and cutlery for 8. Also, when our car skidded on the first day into a snow drift on the estate, the Reception moved really quickly to organize a tow from a friendly local tractor driver, so we really appreciated their help.
Lipno Dreams is a lovely place for a relaxing holiday near the Lipno lake. We loved the Chalet and its location close to charming villages on both sides of the lake – including the ancient tower and an excellent hotel restaurant at Saint Thomas (Svaty Tomas), a well-known viewpoint only a few km away from Lipno. So if you do visit the area, come prepared with some essentials and you’ll have a great time. A little bit more thought by the owner would make the place superb.

Ups and Downs
I spent a week in the largest property they have with three families sharing a house. the property itself is brand new very spacious very comfortable and pleasantly furnished in an IKEA way! The fact that three families coexisted for a week without a row was testament to how nice the house was.
The area is lovely and the house is very central. Had the snow been better we would have been able to ski in and out of the house but the snow was poor. Lipno itself has some very nice restaurants and plenty of places to eat and the mountain for family skiing is a joy. We felt totally safe in sending a group of young teens off to explore the mountain slopes in a group safe in the knowledge that there is only one way in and out of the mountain and the skiing is safe. For adults the skiing is fine and considering you can get two coffees and two doughnuts on a mountain café for 3 euro (yes that's for both) you cant go wrong. And Czech beer really is exceptional.
The same for food. There is an Austrian resort five miles away that charges 6 euro for spaghetti bolognaise whereas Lipno charges 2. If you are bringing a family group you really cannot beat it for value.
Similarly the ski lifts, gear and the ski school staff are exceptional. Particularly for children. I have had my children in ski schools from the age of six in France and in North America. The Czech instructors were the nicest most interested and most encouraging I have ever encountered. My children absolutely loved getting tuition from them and they would much sooner go back to Lipno than Whistler. I cant praise that more.
Downsides? The trip from Prague is pretty long . The local shops are pretty poor.
The house itself has some notable things lacking. One is a freezer compartment which meant we had to dump icecream we bought. There are fiddly arrangements with having to pay charges by bank transfer then having to pay cash for towels and for local taxes and so on. But they do flag this with you well in advance.
We had a major issue when we were leaving. A shower tray in the house was cracked when we got there and when we were leaving we were accused and abused for having broken it. The manner of how we were accused was frankly disgraceful and we were threatened with police and frog marched down to an ATM to pay for the "damage". We had no sooner left than we were told that even if we had caused damage it was covered by the insurance we had paid for and we shouldn't have been charged. In the end they acknowledged that the shower was not damaged by us and we got a fulsome apology but the insults and the threats were really upsetting. To suggest to a visiting tourist that the police will be called if damage isn't paid for it tantamount to blackmail because if we didn't pay we missed our plane.
As I said they did apologise and reimburse us but it was a bad experience. I do however suspect that they learned a lesson themselves in dealing with customers and I would doubt it will happen again. It would not put me off staying again but explains why what should have been five stars because three.
One other point. The main reason for staying in Villapark was because it was the only property that allowed us to book midweek (in our case Tuesday to Wednesday). Everywhere else was Saturday to Saturday and it is very inflexible.
