Good value for money
The hotel is not in the city center, however you can catch a bus 38 in Lipova that takes you directly to Komenského nám?stí. Rooms are big enough and clean. Breakfast is in another building 200 meters away. Selection is rather basic.
The thing that annoyed me most was wifi connection, which is possible only in the lobby.

Good value hotel!
I recently stayed at the Garni Hotel for a month. The room I had was spacious, clean and very quiet. Yes, the Garni is at the MUNI student residencies but I there was hardly any noise. Everyday the cleaning ladies would come to either clean or change sheets and even though they did not speek english, they were polite and respectfull. There is no safe in the room, but for a month long stay I left my laptop and personal items there and never lost anything. The only problem I would say the hotel had is they don't have in room wifi but if you have a laptop with ethernet you can get connected in the room. The hotel is up a hill, but its a 7 min walk to the Lipova stop that can take you to the city center. Brno in general is super safe. Even as a women by myself I never felt unsafe. Would go to that hotel and Brno again anyday.

Not hotel, more like a student....
I spent one month in "Hotel" Garni Vinarska. My first though was that the room was bigger than I expected. The room included own bathroom with a shower and own toilet even though somewhere in the web pages of the hotel was mentioned shared bathroom. However, during the stay, I was very disappointed to level of cleaning; dust everywhere and I needed to clean a drain from the shower by myself several times in order not to block it with hair... There were also some noisy student (?) parties until early morning. So, I would say it's more like student halls of residence and not hotel.
However, if you are looking for a cheap accommodation and not high-quality facilities, this is still ok option. Location is near Lipova bus and tram stop; easy to travel everywhere by public transport. Some of the staff did not speak English much.

A good value for the money
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during a conference. It's a good value for the price - room was clean (and cleaned every day), room equipment was not worn. For breakfasts you had to walk a bit to other building, but the meal was ok.
There is no wifi, but there is an ethernet socket in a room and you can borrow a cable at the reception desk. But I think a WiFi will have a much better value for most of the visitors - because if you want to connect your tablet, mobile phone, Kindle... For this reason I have a really small WiFi router, so we were also able to share a connection with my colleague (there was onle one socket).
Some colleagues who stayed in other rooms complained about some noisy people on a nearby balcony (and also smoking) - but our room was ok and we were not disturbed during the night.

In case you need a cheap accom....
We came here for the first time ( the whole family) so we decided to take the dormitory 4 bed room. The price for the whole weekend was 144€ which is by far the cheapest I could find in Brno and also close to MotoGP. However do note that 4 bed dormitory does not have the WC and kitchen in the same room, you need to walk through the halway (cca 6 rooms away) Self service breakfast was included in the price. Receptionists were all speaking English, and were all very kind and willing to help. At the reception you can find drink and snack machines and there is a small store only 5 minutes away fromn the hotel . Because we came only for Moto GP we were happy to find a Free shuttle bus was driving every 15 minutes from Mendlovo square , which is 15 minutes away from the hotel by foot, so we left our car in the hotel parking for the whole weekend
( price 8€/day)
I was only unhappy because there was no ATM near hotel or on the way to Mendlovo square, however we discovered one in the hospital only 2 minutes away from the bus station in Mendlovo square, right behind the Gymnasium building.
