Reasonable and friendly place ....
I can't really argue with the first review on this hotel, a very fair and rounded description. From my stay I found it difficult to get a taxi from the busy junction, but turning left from the entrance and walking for 10 minutes took you to a bustling nightlife location, great restaurants and bars. Friendly locals and very tasty food! Bar Soho was noteable I only wish I knew the name of the fantastic restaurant we ate in. It was very popular and a short wait for a table always happened but wow, well worth it! This all enhances the hotel's quirky charm and pleasant ambiance. Nice place, managed to communicate with limited Chinese language ok, though didn't need anything as a chaperon was helping out. Free wifi was very welcome and would have assisted if necessary. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful, though not in a western sense, which for me isn't a problem as I don't want to eat a full English in every country I visit! Added for reference :)

Unpretentious small hotel in a....
This hotel was refurbished and rebranded last year along with being given a new name. I booked my room through E-Long for about 350 RMB per night. It's not really a newly built hotel like E-Long implies. It was comfortable but simply furnished, despite its rather grandiose name.
It's located at a large intersection (Shanghai Road and Zhongshan Road) and is easy to find. Several bus routes have stops nearby. Yinchuan is laid out square, and not difficult to navigate. But taxis are also cheap. The hotel is not near any major tourist landmarks of which I am aware. Several places nearby to eat beef or lamb noodles or skewers of shao kao (meat roasted over coals.) The area is predominantly Muslim, so very little pork.
Next door is a large, well run foot massage place owned by the same management according to one of the girls who worked there. Good service at a reasonable price.
Breakfast is adequate, but not great. There were not many guests when I was there (early May, 2012.) Breakfast may be better when they have more guests to feed.
Service was friendly and helpful. I didn't test their English level of the staff, and I know that is sometimes a concern on this forum. Such places usually have a member around somewhere who can help you out with translation. You should not realistically expect more.
