I travel a great deal, this is....
Shanghai is a large city so location is important. Hotel is 60 floors high, check in at level 38 and then take different elevators to your room. I was on level 45. Spacious, everything you needed and quiet. hopefully you have tier level to use the exec lounge on 59. nice simple breakfast, canapés and drinks in the evening. will stay again as convenient for our office in Shanghai. Check out the highest library in the world on 60!

Great experience !
I was a guest at the hotel for a week while visiting my son, who is doing a semester abroad in Shanghai. I picked the hotel based on a friend’s recommendation and I couldn’t have been happier!
Several things stood out for me:
The service was top notch— from the front desk check-in to the restaurants, to the cleaning crew.
The location was great . Located directly across from People’s Park and the Shanghai museum, 5 minutes to a subway station, a short walk to the Najing Road shopping areas, and within walking distance of the Bund. And for Starbucks lovers there are two very close by — the ground floor of the office building shared by the hotel and by People’s Park.
3) Car Service
I would highly recommend the hotel car service for airport transportation. I used the car service both ways and was glad I did. My flight arriving at Shanghai was an hour late and my luggage took an hour to come — still when I walked through the doors to the arrival hall my driver was waiting for me!
When we got close to the hotel, the driver communicated with the hotel and there was a front desk employee waiting for me at the hotel entrance. He escorted me upstairs to the 38th floor lobby for check-in.
You can also book cars for transportation needs throughout the city. My son advised us that local taxis often do not stop for foreigners, so we used the hotel car service often with great results.
We will stay here again if we travel back to Shanghai.

Exceptional! Great Executive ....
I've traveled all over the world, and this is one of the best business hotels I've stayed in.
First of all, the location is very convenient, but lots of hotels can say that.
The views are amazing. The lobby on the 38th floor has excellent views, as do most rooms.
The executive lounge is worth every penny. The views on the 59th floor are incredible. You can reserve 1 of 2 meeting rooms for 2 hours a day. The breakfast and dinners are very good, with sufficient western offerings. Plenty of drinks throughout the evening. Be sure to walk up the stairs to the "highest library in the world" on the 60th floor!
But the service here is what puts it over the top. I stayed here 9 nights and found everyone to be pleasant, looking after my every "need." And by "need", I mean that a worker in the lounge noticed I finished my water so he brought me another one within minutes without having to ask.
I hope to stay here again the next time I'm in Shanghai.
(As I was writing this a staff member just refilled my chardonnay!)

Solid hotel in a great locatio....
This was my second stay at the JW Marriott and it was another good one. The hotel is in a wonderful location and sits high up overlooking People’s Square and the city. The lobby is on the 38th floor and has a great view, as do all of the rooms. My one issue was that while I requested a king bedroom, am a Marriott Platinum member, and checked in via the mobile app 48 hrs before arriving, I still only got a twin room. They were very nice about it, but I just don’t understand room allocation for all Marriott properties, not just this one, and why I should bother checking in online early.
That one issue aside, my stay was very nice. The room was still nice, with good work space, comfortable beds, a nice closet area, and good bathroom set-up. Water from the separate shower did leak out all over the floor on one side each day, though. Not a huge deal, but just something that should be fixed for a hotel of this caliber.
I really enjoy the buffet breakfast at this hotel specifically. Like most Western hotels in Asian countries, it has an extensive selection of European, American, South Asian and Chinese dishes. There are egg and noodle stations, as well as someone making pancakes. They also serve fantastic breads. I can’t put my finger on why I like this one better than others - perhaps it’s just that each dish is so good.
I used the executive lounge in the evenings. It’s pretty big, which is good because it seems to serve a lot of people. What I don’t love is how they want to seat you when you arrive and then serve you your drinks. I’d rather pick my own spot and get my own drinks. That aside, the food and beverage selections are pretty good.
The gym is very nice, with a pleasant view out onto People’s Square, lots of natural light from the big windows, and a solid range of equipment.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the hotel again, but would also consider looking at other Marriott properties, just to see how some of the others stack up.

Fabulous property and Location
This hotel is a fabulous hotel. Check out the nearby park early in the morning for some great exercising. The food is awesome in the kitchen and
the gym and pool are also top shelf. The service is very good and the accommodations very clean.
