Worst hotel experience ever (c....
Prostitute name card and dust welcoming you in your room.
The internet connection was very slow.
Upon arrival, I was told they cannot find my booking. I had then to pay again. I was charged for my first booking, and again by the hotel. After an horrendous night (window was open, it was cold, dirty, and had prostitutes name card under the door, I did not feel comfortable at all there), I asked to move out, which was agreed by the hotel manager, up until now I am waiting for the refund of the resting nights. I do not want to make advertisement for other hotel, but there is at least one, which has a much friendlier staff and cleaner premise very nearby... and especially honest, as they don't charge for unused services and do what they say they will do.

Filthy place, full of mold and the smell of cold cigarette smoke in the room. We arrived very later after we made a booking via ctrip. As we entered the lobby we we're welcomed with a woman shouting NO, NO, NO at us, trying to tell us there was no room available. After like 1 hour of discussion we got a room anyhow but now i figured out that i was charged twice because she didn't consider the ctrip booking. It was a terrible experience. Even being used to non english speaking stuff, the effort to help us was really minimal.

OK for an overnight
Stayed here for a one night stop-off in Shanghai before heading back to Pudong airport. This motel is conveniently situated near the Bund area sights and eating places. Good value for the money and great free WIFI. Room adequate, surprisingly quiet and bed was comfortable, though don't expect any luxury. Plenty of hot water but shower floor very slippery. Electrical power points were not properly screwed to the wall - worked well enough but did not inspire confidence. Room was clean but indifferent maintenance standards meant the place looked rather run down. Reception area is unattractive but English speaking reception staff were polite, friendly and helpful.

Great location, but don't expe....
I stayed in Motel 268 (still don't get the 168 vs 268 thing). Good value for money, certainly a good practical choice if you just want a small room with shower etc., but don't care much about atmosphere. Don't expect fellow backpackers hanging out in the lounge, which doesn't exist. This is basically a chain hotel for Chinese people. Reception staff is friendly but don't speak much English. Room was small and basic, but modern bathroom, TV and WiFi. Not much space to put things though, it felt a bit narrow. Visual privacy - you've got to be lucky with your neighbours. But just a short walk from the Bund and E Nanjing Rd, that made up for it.
