Might as well sleep on the flo....
This place was just awful. The staff doesn't speak any English at all, so even though we were told it would be 400 yuan, they charged us 500 for the night. But of course you cannot argue about the price because no one speaks any English.
As for sleeping, forget about it. The beds are like concrete. So hard you have to toss and turn all night to stop the bruising. The windows are paper thin and street noise goes on all night. The only nice part was the shower.
They were also undergoing a renovation so the hallways were filled with mattresses, construction work. All and all an absolutely terrible experience.

You really do get what you pay for with this hotel, a bed, old TV and a bathroom.
The bedding was old and worn out, possibly dirty, wasn't game enough to look!
The hotel is a 20-30 minute cab ride into The Bund costing around Y40.
There is no wifi, reception spoke no english, and the breakfast is defiantly orientated toward asian patrons.
I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE!
.... although I would recommend the fast food place down the road .... YTK? Two Huge chicken burger meals for AUD$5!

Not for me
Stayed one night here as a stop over before an early flight from Pudong Airport.
Minimum charge taxi ride from Shanghai Railway station.
We told them on booking that we would arrive late, but still received a phone call to say that if we did not check in before 10pm then they would not hold the room.
Check in Ok but it was not busy. We were suprised to find that they wanted 350 RMB per night deposit at check in. as we didn't have this much RMB (last night before going home) had to use the credit card as deposit. Then paid bill in cash next day - this worked OK.
Hotel lobby basic
Corridors shabby and bare
Room, grubby, walls badly marked, curtains did not pull accross window fully and were of very poor quality.
Bathroom was OK and basic toiletries provided.
Clothes hanging space minimal 4-5 hangers.
Beds were comfortable enough and bedding clean, but not sure if it felt slightly damp.
Just out of the motel and to the right there is a road full of street food stalls, we didn't eat here as had already eaten, but the food looked good.

This hotel was absolutely horrible! I stayed here for a few nights on a school trip to China. The entrance is definitely deceiving. Upon arriving, you think you've arrived at a decent hotel until you start checking in. Check in was chaos since none of the staff spoke English. It took about 40 minutes to check in our group of less than 10 rooms. Our group ended up staying in rooms that were separated from each other. I visited a few of the other rooms that our group stayed in. Each room seemed to have a different layout and amount of space. The room I stayed in was small and dirty. The beds were as hard as sleeping on a piece of wood with sheets and a pillow. The hotel was located on a busy street so sleeping was not easy. All you would hear all night was people screaming and honking their horns and cars driving by at all hours of the night. The showers were so disgusting that we showered with slippers on. The showers would flood the whole bathroom floor by the time you were done. The bathrooms were so little it was hard to move around. The only thing I probably liked about the hotel was that it was located in the vicinity of restaurants and little shops. Other than that, I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone!

Avoid Motel 168!!!
This place is the worst. I'll just write a list, as writing a review would take weeks:
1. No carpets in corridors, which means noise, noise, NOISE!
2. Paper thin walls, which means TV noise and sounds of a more intimate nature at all hours.
3. Shower cubicle leaks.
4. Bed like a block of concrete (only less comfortable).
5. (minor point) HBO listed on TV channel list, but it doesn't work.
6. Total mayhem at check-in.
7. Creaking doors, slamming doors, banging at all hours of the day and night.
8. Cleaning the floors at 2am with a mop and metal bucket - hardly very quiet...
Avoid this hotel. Even at £20 a night it is a rip-off.
