4 Days 3 Nights in a strategic....
At first, we looked into a room in the 1st floor, fortunately they put us in the 5th floor, because the room in the 1st floor was smelly.
It is 5 minutes walk from Line 10 Metro Station, and 10 minutes walk from East Nanjing Road where you can find shops like Forever 21, Zara, HnM, etc.
I would recommend this place for staying in the winter but not in the summer, since the air conditioner placed straight to the bed.
Back in the bathroom, our shower only have super hot water and super cold water, the water heater seems a little broken. It would be best if you could avoid our room, in 503.
You might want to skip the breakfast, and hit the street food around, because they served rice, sweet potato, corn, porridge, egg and noodle for breakfast. Not a really good start for a day.

Do not stay here for layovers!
I called 3 months before my reservation date to arrange an early check in/early check out. I've been to Shanghai twice before for 24 hour layovers and never had issues with arranging early check in at other hotels. When I called Lakeside Inn, the receptionist who spoke English said it would not be a problem. So when I arrived at 8am I was promptly told that I could not be checked in and had to come back at 2. I asked her "Why would you say 3 months ago it was ok and I only find out today that it's not?". She had no answer and didn't even apologize! So I asked if I could have the wifi info to see if I could get another hotel and she rudely told me no! I would be giving them 1 star but they are in a decent location and are affordable too but it's a dirty hotel and I will not be back.

Cheap, fair location BUT poor ....
5 minutes walk from metro station, cheap price may be suitable for budget travelers. There was wifi in room. However, the frustrating shower, poor hygiene and bad staff attitude would definitely ruin your trip.
The toilets did not flush very well. The shower was too weak, and very difficult to tune water temperature because it was either too hot or too cold. We were living in
riverside room which was a bit cold, but the air-con was not warm enough, so we took out the blankets from the cabinet to use. We were so shocked to see the blankets with at least 10 dirt, some looked like bloodstain.
We took the blankets to reception and asked the staff to change for us. Unexpectedly, the request was rejected. The staff (a 5x years old man) was very rude and said those were not bloodstain but some dirts, it was meaningless to replace as they would only wash those blankets AFTER winter, others were about the same.
Words fail to describe our anger. We wanted to complain to manager, but the man said "No owner" at first, we insisted so he told us room number of manager and claimed that the manager would give us same answer. We decided to make the complaint until the last day to avoid trouble during our stay. After 15 mins the man took another blankets to our room. Perhaps he escalated to manager and his
manager wanted to settle the case.
