Beauty of the Area

Spent 2 weeks here for work. Lobby is breathtaking. tile work, lighting, etc. Main restaurant is very popular in the evenings (buffet style- 4 stars), but the restaurant hidden in the back is the gem. Great dishes, great prices. Room was average and is decently quiet to hotel noise, but the KTV (Karaoke club next door can be noisy), and there are fireworks in the area EVERY night. The area is growing, but it is still very low-rent. This hotel is typically packed with new luxury cars, indicating it is the hotel of choice for the town/area. Hotel is a 10-15 min walk from shopping. Be sure to make a trip down town. I'll be spending many weeks here for work over the next several months. It's a place I have no problem calling home for the time.

Average is Average

l have been to this hotel on various occasions, not sure it deserved a review yet due to this hotel not being fully completed on my previous visits giving it some benefit of the doubt. Well now, l have seen it all and too much. The love for smoking in this region is universal and at the hotel is no exception, you just cannot get away from that constant smell. l also have never seen that swimming pool downstairs being open. Rooms are average, but you do get some sleep, although you can here pretty much every single other room adjacent to yours. The breakfast is a traditionally local one, if you can stand going totally Chinese then you will live through it, some Chinese classics are nice, but asking for a cold glass of water or for my guests a fork seems too far already. pity. We did eat at the hotel on various occasions and the Chinese restaurant with local delicacies is not bad. There is not much to do around the hotel other than what l did which was a conference nearby. Calling it a 5 stars is probably a joke, it maybe qualifies as 3... 4 if they start off with having some sort of room service, a few more English words at the front desk and opening that pool. There is nothing else better close by, so stick to this one, at least it guarantees less and a calculated amount of 'frills'

Did I Stay in the Same Place?

I imagine if they cleaned the rooms, this place would be 5 star plus. Worse? The stench of the restaurants in the hallways because they don't use the A/C system - so you know it was exceedingly hot and muggy in the hallways too. The room had an odor of musty or a badly cleaned carpet or the sewer out back. We bough an air freshener to survive the night. Food is ok - -nothing bad, nothing great. The restaurant is LIVELY and seems to be a social center in the area. The area is developing rapidly - hopefully someone will clean this place up because the location and the facilities are really decent And SADLY - smoking is rampant even on the non-smoking floor. Nothing can be done about that Remember - this is NOT in Nantong but well north of the city. (Near the Yellow Sea which was very cool to visit)

Hardware not bad, but many iss....

Hotel is an about 3 hour drive from Shanghai. It is not in Nantong, but in some village 30 min north of Nantong. Rooms are quite large. Bathroom has a walk-in shower and a tub. Water quantity was average. Towels in the bathroom stank like someone used them as a filter for a cigarette. I stayed in a non-smoking room. First they tried to give me a smoking room, but it was extremely smelly. Only then I realized, I forgot to ask for a non-smoking room. Electric plugs are about 2 meter from the bed and next to the desk. Next to the desk is only one outlet. Wifi is available, each room has a rooter. Only one password is needed. Speed is average, with VPN and Skype working, but Facetime was difficult. Beds are reasonable soft and comfortable. At 5 AM someone burned some firework outside of the hotel. I guess a funeral, but at 5 AM? The AC / ventilation was off and the hotel recommended to keep the door to the balcony closed. Hence no air circulation in the room. Breakfast had some toast and the bread. Butter and Strawberry jam was available. Orange juice was not drinkable, as it was just yellow sugar water. Otherwise only Chinese dishes. With a little bid of work, this could be a nice place and usually hotels from the Landison group are not bad, but this one barely made it to the average column. It should be actually poor.

I stayed 3 nights at the Landison Hotel and it was great. The rooms were big and clean. The wifi was free with a strong connection. I had several meals in the hotel that were good. The Japanese restaurant was exceptionally good Centrally located for my business
